A new take on the dive watch???

Post by Galton321 »

This came into my inbox. Design company produced a new take on the dive watch it is claimed. Must say I like the clean design. Not bad price for a SW 200 powered mechanical. https://www.instrmnt.co.uk/collections/d-series

Not for me. I'm glad you like it, but all I see is a Daniel Wellington style 3 hand dress watch with a dive bezel added. Also not so sure about buying a watch from a company that also sells couches, umbrellas and bikes.

Minimalism has its place, but a dive watch needs to get the job done - even if it will not be used for diving, otherwise why buy a dive watch?

The price on a leather strap is £595 which is the same price as a Trident Pro mk3 on a hybrid strap (using one of the £100 vouchers).

More of a fashion watch than diving perhaps and could meet the taste for minimalism.

Positive point for the attempt to regulate the movement though - The Trident isn't and it would be great if it was brought down from the maximum of +/-20 seconds. Mine regularly gains +15 seconds per day - But i'd rather that and the guarantee to be able to tell the time with the quality lume of the Trident.

Err...not for me. It's a Bauhaus diver, or should that be a Bhs diver? Not likely to ever get wet unless it's splashed with Riesling in a very hip, design-led workspace. Sinn and submarine steel, now that's a diver. Helvetica Neue is not a selling point either. Bit of a disaster me thinks.

I wonder who makes the watches for them? Maybe they outsourced the whole thing, design and all?

Nice to see it incorporated on hairless thin male wrist on promo.

Truly a divers watch. ISO office rated.

With enough money and nerves you can order emerald bezel plated titanium cased 1000 M WR rated valjoux powered HEV incorporated gold detailed diver in 48 mm with tiger leather strap and printed face of Queen Elizabeth on dial in lume.

If you order 500 of these they would cost around 200£ per unit including delivery from China..

I agree it has a Bauhaus minimalist look about it, in which case the date window is out of place, so it even fails on that front.

Good, clean design but a little too plain for me
