Vintage Seiko advice

Post by missF »

Hi, does anyone know of a good place to send a vintage seiko (1970-ish) day-date for a service and repair?

(After asking around for day-date watches that I would love to wear on a daily basis I looked down and realised I already had the watch I want - I wore it for long spells in hospital and I’ve been wearing it again for weeks now...... It’s a vintage seiko that a forum friend gave me aa few years ago.... I’m sure that one of Downer’s Rules state that you should never buy a watch that you already own ..... )

Not one that I recall, Lindsey. But I’m sure that given Richard’s legendary common sense and ability at recordkeeping, he would probably have taken that as read.

I had a couple of old Seikos that needed repair.
I took them to my local AD and they in turn sent them to an Authorized Seiko Service Center.
Unfortunately, both were returned with "unable to repair - parts no longer available" :(
Anyway, here's some info. and a couple of places you could try:

Caveat: I have not used either nor do I have any association.

This guy, George Clarkson, restores plenty of 70s Seikos for me and is currently working on the watch I have owned for about 56 of my 66 years.

I can guarantee two things about George working on your watch:

1. You won't get your watch back inside a month.
2. You will be delighted with George's work.

Watchkings in Devon - I have one of mine there at present. No idea how it's going to turn out though...😊
