Congrats Guy, very good purchase indeed... happy birthday present to you!
I am living my watch buying vicariously through you lot!

Funds wont allow but so tempted by the white Jag Mkii - I reckon 'that store' should pay me commission for pointing people in their direction, or just gift me the Jag!

First Bremont Patrick.

Oh, and 0% finance over 12 months was available. Seemed churlish not to accept the offer.

Happy you got that one, Guy - as I know you've been a long-term admirer of the U22. I'll be interested to know your opinion of the stock strap as I must admit I was a bit nonplussed with the one on mine.

Still, it'll probably end up on a NATO. :D

I was eyeing up Bremonts at Chisolm. Glad you've bought yourself a Christmas gift!

Definitely long-term admirer Richard.

I think I first looked at one at SalonQP in 2016, or maybe 2015. I last had a look at some Bremonts in Chisholm Hunter, Edinburgh when I was up there for the GTG/CW Event in January this year. I particularly liked the Boeing Chrono; albeit at about twice the price of the U22.

I'll be interested in which strap I get too.

OK, it looks black but what length? Chisholm Hunter's listing just states 'Leather'.

Bremont's listing offers four different lengths (short, regular, long, extra long; my ideal will be long) and states the U22 come with an additional rubber strap. I'll have to wait and see, but might try and get clarification from Chisholm Hunter as well.

I was v impressed when in the same store and trying on the Bremont model I fancy, they are generally quite tall though (well the chronos are) which Im ok with but worth a try on.
I'm OK with tall watches, this one is 16mm, and have several in the 16mm - 18mm range. Not everyone's cup of tea mind.

I've tried Bremonts on in the past, including the Boeing Chrono, 18mm I recall, and they have been fine. If anything I don't like normal (11mm - 14mm) thickness watches.

Actually no. No, I wasn't!

Fabulous pieces. Your first Bremont Guy?
Yes, Phil, My first Bremont and c'mon who are you kidding, as I know these days that Bremont is one of your preferred brands.

Thegreyman wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2019 12:16 pm They seem like very well made watches Guy and that is a good discount iirc. I particularly like their cases, and that U22 looks the business with the bronze. I also like the IWC-esque date window, size also seems good for you at 42mm.

If you really like it, I'd say treat yourself and go for it and get the first Bremont in your collection. It just means another couple have to go into SC (along with all the other ones you've been talking about for a while!!).

Cheers Patrick, thank you.

Yes, definitely another couple, no make that a few, to go in the sales corner.

Although, having taken the 0% finance, I might just work on selling one watch per month to meet the payments. We'll see.

In the meantime, whilst I'm deciding what to sell, if anyone has a liking for any of my pieces . . . . . . . ? ? ?

I received a grey strap on mine, Guy. The quality is fine, but the colour is not (in my opinion) ideal for the watch. I also received a black rubber strap, but I have never really got on with that one.

@downer - Oops, the penny has dropped Richard, regarding your knowledgeable comments about the strap on a U22 as you own one too.

How could I forget? Well I nearly did and it shows I didn't 'do my research' before buying. Image

Did you 'sort' the strap with the AD you bought it from or just set it aside for a rainy day?

I bought my watch online, Guy - in a sale!

The grey strap is in the box, unused. I have a few other straps to choose from but I usually wear it on an older black Bremont strap with a generic deployant.

Congratulations Guy...great purchase
Look forward to your comments and some pics.

One thing that you may find with the leather strap is that it will be very stiff to start with (albeit very good quality) and will need some manipulation to soften it up.

Great buy Guy. You won’t be disappointed with the quality. Bremont’s are beautifully made, solid as a rock, but they are pricey. Customer service is excellent, so I guess you’re paying for that in the purchase price.

A little known fact is that when you send an MB in for service you can choose a different colour bezel, I don’t know if that applies to the U2 range, nor indeed whether there would be another choice which would complement the grey dial.

Just noticed the extended “altimeter” date window. A nice touch.
My name is 0uatiOW, but before you ask, no I don’t.
