As well it should. The Speedy should be considered my one true grail thanks to my interest in the space program and my late father's career in missiles. If I could only keep one, the Speedmaster would be it.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 8:06 pm Interesting to note that the Moonwatch has become a sine qua non of so many forum collections these days.

Well not quite seven styles, and I’m not sure the Garmin counts as a proper watch, but it’s close enough. Good thread!

^^^ Might be an idea to rotate your image 90° anticlockwise and use the Place Inline button.

Re: Seven styles from seven brands
"However if I had to choose seven watches, all from different brands, all different styles and all bringing something different to my collection, that is a far more difficult task."
Bloody nigh on impossible, if you ask me Neil.
Seven watches from seven brands is easy, but different styles, bringing something different is a bit more difficult; particularly if I have to think about wearing them with any degree of frequency.
Well, here goes (in no particular order).
First up, what would potentially be my selection if I were only to have one watch, the Breguet Type XX Aeronavale LE.
Now whilst the Breguet has a reasonable WR rating I ought have a proper dive watch. That, until recently, would be a slam dunk desicion for my CW C60 Trident Pro 600 Chrono P'type
I'd want to add my, new arrival next week, of a CW C60 Apex on the Skeleton style ticket but guess that gets disqualified on the one brand / one watch criteria.
Oh well; here's a picture anyway.
What next? Let's go retro / quasi-vintage quartz Diver. The Q Timex Reissue.
Aviator? Tool watch? Small seconds. Simple. Damasko DK15
Dress watch? I have this with me on holiday for use in the evening, so I guess it counts as a dress watch.
Visitor Duneshore Calligraph
Two to go.....
Beater? Military watch? Wear it for anything? Marathon Navigator - quartz, composite case, acrylic crystal (suitable for HALO parachute operations).
Finally, a multi-style piece that covers Sports, Dress, Beater (has a toughened case), Adventure, Aviator, Diver (300m WR, with triple sealed push in crown) ....

Seven styles from seven brands
Sports chronograph: Omega Speedmaster LE
Dress chronograph: Zenith EP. A toss up in this category between the Zenith and my Omega DeVille, but two Omegas are not allowed, so the El Primero is included.
Panerai (a category all of its own making): PAM620
Out there design: Visitor Duneshore. Just edged out the cleverly designed Direnzo DZR20.
Designer watch: 1990s Giugiaro, by Seiko. Pick either one.
Dive watch: CW Kingfisher LE. So many contenders in this category, but the CW just edged out the Blue Pelagos for this list.
Vintage: Continental chronograph. Some other contenders, but the main one (Dynamic) is ruled out by virtue of being an Omega...
So... an alternative list could be these:
Dress chronograph: Omega DeVille
Marine Chronometer: CW C9 SS
Clever design: Direnzo DZR20
GMT: Although my first GMT was my titanium Steinhart, this Squale 30 Atmos fills this niche nicely.
Dive watch: Tudor Pelagos
Vintage: Favre Leuba Sea Raider
Colourful: I have many contenders for this, but the Hamilton Pan Europ also fills another category of retro sports watch.

Re: Seven styles from seven brands
A tricky one! I can only offer 5 styles over 6 brands so need to use some imagination?
The “Handwound/vintage inspired” Diver category. The “Aviator/Chrono” category. The “Handwound Russian sort of Dressy” catagory. The “Digital/Beater” category. The “My most expensive Diver” category. The “I know it’s another Tudor but it’s a Field watch, not a Diver” category. The “makes me smile Orange Diver” category.

Re: Seven styles from seven brands
An excellent selection of watches on show from all and an illustration of categories and styles of watches being what we as owners make of them.
I.e. there are in reality far more categories and styles than the often stated Dress, Calendar, Diver, GMT, Sports, Chronograph, Aviator, Pilot, Military and Vintage.
With special thanks to Guy and Gary, as I appreciate that the thought of just picking seven watches was probably enough to cause palpitations!
We have even managed to stay on topic. No one (yet!) has decided that seven different brands of dive watches are seven different styles, just because they have different colour bezels or dials.......
Neil

Really tough call, but, as this is in the "Other Brands" section, I'm going to omit any CWs.
