Served a chap in store today who was wearing a SMP, having showed him mine I went into overdrive about the watch and the new model, when I finally drew breath I noticed a rather blank look on his face
It’s just a watch my wife bought me, came his reply.... I don’t even think he knew what make it was

Re: Embarrassing
I feel your embarrassment.
Nice wife he must have though, bought him “just” a watch, a £3k watch (or whatever an SMP is these days).

Yeah, I've been there too. For some reason not everyone appreciates watches as much as they plainly should.

Re: Embarrassing
We forget that 99.9% of the population have no interest in watches whatsoever.
A friend's wife often starts yawning saying 'boring' if I forget and talk about watches.

Re: Embarrassing
Hopefully he knew the actual cost and quality of the watch and was just trying to play it down. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to appreciate the level of the present his wife had given him which would be a real shame.
