How Rolex Test Dive Watches

Post by what-time-is-it »

An article I stumbled across a few months ago - was still open in one of my browser tabs.

Rolex watches have survived missions to the very bottom of the Pacific Ocean. This is how the company tests 800,000 watches a year without leaving Geneva.

Fascinating read, with some astonishing technology.

Bit of a pain that there is only one though, as it means that my DeepSea has to go back to Rolex homebase when service time comes around. No one else, including the service centres can do it!

Good read, thanks for posting.

Just looked online at the brochure for the Explorer. No equivocation or BS about the 100m WR not being suitable for anything other than washing the dishes. :)

TWINLOCK WINDING CROWN
The Twinlock system guarantees that the screw-down winding crown is perfectly water-resistant, thanks to two sealed zones, one inside the tube, the other inside the crown. This principle is used on all the watches in the Oyster collection that are guaranteed waterproof to 100 meters (330 feet).
