My Watch Usage - 2019
I know we have CW of The Day and Non CW etc but taking photos isn't always practical, so since the start of January I've been making a note of which watches I'm wearing each day. I know I'm not alone, with Welshlad and Downer every so often uploading spreadsheets or stats of wrist time etc
So my stats for January '19 are in - entries are added to the list when worn, so the Trident Orange Auto was the first watch on my wrist of 2019 (although I was wearing my G-Shock on New Years Eve) and my Pro-Trek and Freelancer were worn towards the end of the month.
Number beside each watch indicates the number of times on the wrist.
Other stats are 5 watches sold (2 Seiko, 2 Citizen & 1 CW), 0 new additions and a current collection of approx. 29
For my own curiosity I'm going to try and keep doing this, if I do I'll update the thread.
I'm also well aware that the month of January has 31 days, typically I wear one watch for work and then wear something else for home.
Trident Orange/Black Auto 2

Re: Watch Usage - January 2019
I track my watches using the OnMyWrist app, I set a reminder on it for 7pm so I don’t forget to update. The app is useful because you can sort by 30 day, 90 day or All Data. Especially useful if you’re a bit nerdy about these things like me.
January stats, not in any order of preference or number:-
Formex,Essence Chronometer - 9
Certina,DS-2 Precidrive - 3
Steinhart,Ocean One Titanium GMT - 4
Seiko,Samurai - Save The Ocean - 3
Seiko,Samurai - Dawn Grey - 3
Christopher Ward,Trident Pro 600 - 5
EMG,DL63 - 2
Omega,Seamaster Professional - 2
Formex is the newest, so novelty value still applies.
Started this month today with my Citizen Grand Classic Signature.

Good to see the DSSD getting plenty of use, Chris. I have to admit I've given up tracking my watch wear, as it was not really telling me anything I didn't already know - i.e. which watches are my favourites and which ones rarely see the light of day.
I am 100% convinced I have too many watches, and I am strongly considering a serious cull - after the newly ordered one arrives.

Re: Watch Usage - January 2019
I think that the OnMyWrist app is rather good and have been using it since last July.
It did bug me at first that you can only select one watch each day, but I take the view that if, as I tend to, the same three or four watches are worn over a week (before switching 3 from 4 to a different group the following week) it’s easy enough to ensure I still record the approximate split between them over the week.
Forcing me to end up with recording only one a day means I don’t delude myself by recording a watch as “worn” if I have only worn it for a couple of hours, before switching. That way there ends up as no doubt which watches are properly worn, albeit I knew that without recording anything, but probably overlooked there are still a bunch of watches that I just keep because I liked them enough to buy at the time, but not enough to bother wearing. They now show up as no record of being worn.

Re: Watch Usage - January 2019
I agree with both points, I currently have 14. Of which 9 are mentioned in my previous post. However, I would find it difficult to sell any of my current collection after a recent cull.
I too have 1 more incoming, but not until March.
My watch box/winder holds 17, so I am within my self-imposed limit.

Re: Watch Usage - January 2019
I just use an app on my phone called Daybook, a simple diary where I can add general notes or in my case which watch or watches I wear that day.
I guess I know which watches I wear regularly and in some respects keeping a daily/monthly record will probably convince me to move on what's not being worn, but I'm in no rush and crucially not increasing the collection!

January was simple
30 days of the Speedmaster Mk II
1 day of the C7 Apex.
I'm still wearing the C7 Apex.

Watch Usage - January 2019
I thought it may have been simple, as I use the What’s on my Wrist app to track what I wear. The reality though, is that it reported 30 watches with 1 wear each.... Oh well.
Edit: In some 7 or 8 months of app usage, there are 3 watches that have been worn for 6 days, another 3 for 5 days, 8 for 4 days and it just goes downhill from there

January 2019
Steel bracelets - 31/31 (no straps, as per my new year resolution)
Vintage Submariner - 26
G-Shock DLC Metal - 4
Red Aqua Terra - 0 (Sold)
White Speedmaster Date - 1 (New arrival at Jan end)
On just a couple of days I wore two watches but I only count the one that I wore longer that day (approximately). If you have fewer watches it’s also very easy to keep track of this stuff. I will be selling the G-Shock in February since I am not wearing it. 4 days a month does not qualify as a keeper to me.

Not a scooby doo.
I might look through the CWOTD and NCWOTD threads but then I don't always post what I am wearing, plus I sometimes wear a second or third watch in the day.

Also I would definitely recommend the smaller collection. You have a superb collection but within that there will always be those that get little wear.i reckon if you picked your favourite 4 or 5 at a push you would cover everything you could want with real quality. You could also bung a few bob in the bank....never a bad thing!
I have 4 at the moment but that is possibly one too many so have put the bremont up for sale and with a change hopefully at the end of the week will have a small but balanced choice. Not even enough to call a collection really.
Cheers now, Paul

Re: Watch Usage - January 2019
In the 191 days that I have been using the app I have worn 8 watches 10 times or more, plus 2 at 6 times, 1 at 5 and then it tails off to hardly troubling the scorer.gaf1958 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 12:18 am I thought it may have been simple, as I use the What’s on my Wrist app to track what I wear.
