Agree with all of that, it is a decent looking watch.

Quite a tragic story of Kubica, I doubt he'll ever be back properly racing in F1 although he may well get a few cameo drives. Hopefully I am wrong.

I can see both sides of the joke in question, funny yet maybe not in the best taste. Sorry to see that Tyke has left the building, I don't think that was necessary and I hope he returns at some point.

I was brought up with black humour and the almost immediate comments doing the rounds following Louis Mountbatten's tragic murder being one case that comes immediately to mind. That was without social media.

Apart from Bob and Guy nobody nobody has voiced disapproval on Forum so that can only have been done so privately by PM with those apparently not wishing to state it on Forum.

There is no way that Tyke set out to upset fellow members and he specifically said this:
Tyke wrote:Not gallows humour fans then? Please feel free to delete it if it offends.
I am not even going to quote the next bit but nobody chose to publicly chastise him on Forum.

All that has happened is that we have lost yet another free speaking, intelligent member and I don't think that we can afford to keep doing that.

I said it was in bad taste and I stand by that. Did I think Tyke deliberately set out to upset anyone? No. Am I saddened that he may have left the forum because of what I said? Yes.

Vilification & pitchforks?! There’s just a hint of hyperbole there, don’t you think? I don’t think the comments made even come close to approaching vilification and pitchforks.

I think if Tyke deleted his account over people saying they took offense to his comments, it was perhaps the proverbial straw in his view. From previous posts of his, I think he’s had some issues with the forum for awhile now.

I don't think he decided to leave based on what you said Bob if I'm honest.

Maybe a tad. I was referring to the public chastisement comment/request.

Tykes reasons for leaving are known to him, and I am not presuming to second guess them.

I also found Tyke's post to be in poor taste. If he has chosen to "leave the building" then that is his choice. As another poster has said this may well have been the last straw for him. I found many of his posts regarding the logo change to out of order but I bear Descartes in mind. I do not think that Guy acted in any way excessively or inappropriately. If you want the ability to say what you like you have to accept that others may disagree.

I enjoyed Tykes often contrarian views and brutal honesty, but his comment about Kubica was below the belt.

It's a shame it happened and that he has moved on, but he can always come back.

Never thought this thread would see so much activity!

I find your comment very insensitive and now my feelings are hurt.. I am going to watch some Jimmy Carr and Lisa Lampanelli videos now..

It is actually a good looking watch but the name and signature on the dial and back are crap.

Honestly, are people really feigning offence on behalf of Robert Kubica?

Is anyone on the forum a friend of his or family member?

Has anyone bothered to ask him if he's offended by it?

Having served my apprenticeship with a lad with one leg, I can assure you, he never once took the "going down the pub to get legless" jokes as offensive or in poor taste, nor did he let it restrict his life in any way , shape of form. (He was one of the top five footballers of the 70 lads there)
I currently work with someone that got his arm jammed in an escalator, who takes being compared to a "raggy doll" in very good humour.

The joke was bloody funny. I'm baffled why anyone would feel upset about something that has absolutely no bearing on their lives.
I wonder how you go about your daily lives if you are so easily offended?

Tyke's views and often downbeat comments (mainly about the logo) were a refreshing change on the forum and regularly make me smile (not sure if that was always the intention)

I echo other's views. The forum NEEDS members like Tyke. Personalities are a dying breed these days and the world is far worse for it.
