Grand Seiko Spring Drive SBGA003

Post by mikepj »

Evening all, does anyone own this black faced GS?

If so, how black is the face ~ I'm looking for an inky black that absorbs light.... think along the lines of wearing a black hole on your wrist!!

Please would you post some wrist shots as I have the opportunity to acquire one as a stablemate for my recently acquired Snowflake :D

Whilst not the spring drive model, I'm pretty certain the dial is the same matte black as my quartz.
Obviously would be better if someone with the SD were to confirm, but photos online suggest the same.

It does appear an inky 'black hole' in most lights and can appear to have a very slight brown'ish hue in direct sunlight.
The contrast between the dial and indices/hands is exceptional, although seeing it in person is the only way to fully appreciate it.

Here's a couple of mine anyhow ...

And a web pic of the SBGA ...

Any other questions, fire away

Thanks for the reply

I tried on the Quartz SBGV207 in Peplow's recently which at 40mm sat perfectly on my wrist...

If you know where to look, a preowned Spring Drive with the old Seiko / Grand Seiko logos (which I prefer on the black face) can be found for around the same price....
