Does Hand Finishing Matter ?

Post by tempusmaximus »

Does hand finishing matter ? a collectors view of movement decoration .

Those of you who have visited on line watch forums with any frequency , have very likely come across at least a few heated discussions on "finishing" , a topic that seems to fascinate , and divide enthusiasts .

I view an attractive display back as nice to have in a watch but, not really a necessity as you rarely see it.

It wouldn't overly bother me whether hand or machine finished albeit I do appreciate all forms of traditional craftsmanship so I can see the appeal of that.

Most of the movement finishing in the article looks exquisite although I found the Breguet a little ostentatious.

Quite frankly a solid caseback that has excellent engraving is also very appealing.
