The sunburst grey dial looks very nice indeed.

Only thing that lets it down for me is that the sapphire insert is grey to colour match the dial.
Shame it couldn't be spec'd with a black insert as per orange/pastel blue.
Could have the Seiko MAS look going on then.

I was hoping the sunburst grey would be a lighter tone, more like the previous nimbus grey they offered. It's more or less black now, which means it's up against loads of other competition. But in light grey it was in a much smaller class. And as pastel blue it's more or less in a class of its own.

It's going to be pastel blue for me I think. With a steel diver bezel.

They do look good! Perfect case sizes and lug to lug for the style. What’s not to like.

If I hadn’t stopped buying watches, that I would only wear infrequently, I would definitely go for one. :(

On the other hand, I haven’t previously seen a DLC watch that I like the look of - pastel blue looks good to me.

Or a steel case, Sapphire bezel, also pastel blue looks good to me.

They certainly fit the “holiday beach/pool watch, no need to worry about them too much category”. :)

Yep, welcome to #teampastel in a few months!

I'm also hoping the much larger community of owners will mean used prices tumble, so I can pick up a second one in a few years...

For any of you guys who were really keen on the Bahama Yellow version which is no longer produced, there is one on ebay, ending tomorrow with bidding still at a reasonable £600 free postage from a UK seller

Unfortunately 5 negatives and one neutral out of 67 feedbacks would keep me away though.

Possibly you're right. There are a lot of positive feedbacks though including some pricey watches. You get the ebay/paypal buyer protection too, so I'd still see the risk as low. I guess swimming in the 'bay always carries the risk of getting bitten by a shark :problem:

That's probably why I wade around in the shallow end.

I was certain I would go for the date option...until I saw the no-date version! I was amazed how much more balanced the dial looked with a baton at 6 rather than the inset date window. So it's the no-date option for me, which I will order later when I get home! :)

^^^fair point Steve you are probably right about dial balance but I usually prefer to have a date on my watch.

That said my two best watches are both no date :?

Seaforth preorders tomorrow 1/18

Post by gaf1958 »

If the yellow had still been available, chances are I would've ordered one of those. For once I don't like the orange as much as the yellow ... and I have a number of orange watches already, so I went with pastel blue no-date with a black bezel. It looks good with the steel bezel, but I have a long history of not keeping steel bezelled watches around too long, and I'd like this one to hang around.
