Thanks Nigel. I completely missed that thread but the court case seems to be more to do with Dave Scott being upset about his image being used to market the watch. It doesn't really address the name change from Moonwatch to Lunar Pilot.

I did see the name change of late as well Phil.
I guess the one's with the Moon Watch manual will be worth more in years to come ? I can hope sure :)

I thought it was originally called ;-

Bulova Moon Chronograph

... and is now the Lunar Pilot.

I think you are right Guy. The general public (us!) shortened it to moonwatch. Still, something has happened to effect the change.

Just checked my Bulova.

My booklet says “We are proud to introduce the Bulova MoonWatch “

So it wasn’t the public that christened it MoonWatch.

They might have changed booklet later, but mine was one of the first in UK to be ordered. In fact, the Bulova customer rep told me that I was the first customer to enquiry about it after the news articles appeared.

Set mine on March 31st.
Checked it today and it's running at +1 second.
Happy with that :)

Excellent . Yes, it was much the same when it was with me. In fact I used it to set my run-down automatics against it for quite a while to save me grabbing the laptop and launching Time.is, until I got the Braun digital radio controlled wall clock, which I use now.

They are crazy accurate. Are they thermally compensated?

Although I bought the Black Bulova Lunar Pilot not so long ago, and I have recently acquired an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, I have still had a desire to get a replacement regular Lunar Pilot, as I sold my first one about a year ago and I have been keeping an eye out for one.

Problem has been that no one has been offering them with any serious level of discount.

Fast forward to this evening and, with various Summer Sales being in place, I was mooching around online retail sites (as you do and with a little search engine help).

Outcome is that, thanks to a seller on Amazon.com, I now have a Bulova Lunar Pilot en-route to me, expedited shipping from the USA due this time next week, for around £330 (subject to currency conversion by Mastercard).

This is, near as dammit, the same price I paid from my local Ernest Jones in Dec '16.
