Customised - Blue

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

I know we all like a good voting session, so here's one for you.

As some of you will know I have an Elliott Brown Canford, which I bought just over a year ago, to which I am thinking of doing a little bit of customisation. Elliot Brown are happy to carry this out at a reasonable cost; as they do one off custom watches for their ADs.

The Canford is quite a large watch with a 44mm case and 54mm lug2lug, Swiss quartz movement, Steel elastomer damped shock-absorbing movement holder, domed crystal, an internal bezel and 200m WR.

My version has a warm ivory textured dial and bezel, grey-gold metallic markers (which look black at some angles), in a brushed s/s case.

I'm looking to put a bit of 'colour' into it, to make it stand out and be individual, with either a black or dark marine blue bezel taken from these watches in their range.

Whilst I don't have photoshop, I do have an Elliot Brown brochure and have managed to 'cut & paste' to create a couple of mock ups of what the proposed customisation will look like as here;-

Marine Blue

Clearly the blue in my mock-up is a bit on the light side, compared to the picture above.

Thinking on the options, I feel that Black is the classic, safe option whereas the Marine Blue is a little more individual and distinctive; both will blend well with the Warm Ivory dial but the Marine Blue may go with the grey-gold markers a touch better. At the moment I am undecided and have the decision pendulum swinging well between the two options.

So; question is simple Ladies and Gentlemen. Which looks better Black or Marine Blue?

PS> Please ignore the straps / bracelets in the pictures as I have a wide variety to match the end result.

Your vote and all comments welcome.

I voted blue, but irrespective of which colour you choose, I think the mod will be a good one - as it will improve the proportions of the watch.

Blue for me and a nice bit of modding that I think with all respect, takes the watch to a different level.

For me the obvious Black and White answer to Black or Blue question is: Cream and Blue :)

If the dial was white, the above answer may not have been so black and white.

You've hit the nail on the head there Richard. That's what drew me to thinking of this.

Thanks all for your votes and comments so far; very much appreciated. :) Keep them coming.

Oops. :problem: Having added a pink vote for MissF it has deleted all previous votes cast.

Please feel free to resubmit, although I think the tally was Black - 1 Blue - 8.

Each of us will face this question at least once in a year.

"Why do you have so many watches? You can only wear one at a time!"
