Saw the Omega SMP with grey face in the flesh today and was a little disappointed to be honest. Think I may have to rethink what my next purchase will be :?

Of the two I'd probably go with the Stowa, but I'd want to wait for the new Smiths ones from Timefactors first.

I like the 1016 style one but not sure on the expedition model. Much prefer the stowa even for double the money. Might look to move a few on for one

I’m assuming that’s the 36mm LLD, Paul? Very nice.

yep
36. should be a lovely watch for the more moderate of wrist. I used to have the 42 and a great watch but with the long lugs it was just too big for me.

^^^ that’s interesting, Paul. If you go for it I would love to see a review and some wrist shots. A year or two back I would have been very interested, but I have slightly gone the other way and now find myself very comfortable with the 41 to 43 mm range that I tend to wear most of the time these days.

Still looking at an Omega SMP or Planet Ocean, just so many options!

I too have tried on the 42mm LLD and it wore large, even for a 42mm watch due to the lugs.

I feel that Longines maybe have gone too far though in reducing the dial size. I'd definitely try out the 36mm but feel that maybe 38-39mm would have been a better option.

It's a bit akin to CW with the 38/43mm Trident mk2 disparity which has now been sensibly, imo, addressed with a middle option with the 38/40/42mm mk3, albeit we need a 40mm GMT and some more colourways to really fill the gap.
