The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

Post by watchstudent »

I just thought this might be a good idea. People can put what watches they are dreaming about/researching etc. because I don't know about you lot but I have a different at least every week!

So to kick off, a really rare watch, i am not sure i have seen one on this forum :silent: but it is the hot favourite to be my next watch. Not sure if you've heard of it:

Image

also just found an article on Hodinkee about a watch John Mayer bought a special limited edition Tiffany dial Patek. I know I would have great fun if i struck oil with seeking out rare watches like this.

I stlll have an unscratched itch for the blue 41.5mm Aqua Terra (the recently superseded model)...

I almost chose this instead of my last acquisition (the Pelagos), and to be honest, more than a small part of me wishes I'd gone for the AT first. Oh well, I'll either have to save up (again) or sell something else (again). :)

Are you ever tempted by Explorer 1, Oyster Perpetuals or Datejusts in the same genre?

Vintage Rolex Air king, and Explorer 2, polar, older model.

This week:

Somewhat. I like the Explorer and the blue DJ with flat bezel, but I've never been sufficiently tempted to seriously consider buying one. So far.

Would certainly put your recent transition to smaller watches to the test, i think the 36mm Rolexes have a lovely balance though. And their blue sunburst dials are beautiful, maybe not as interesting as the ATs though

For me its the same watch as downer, but the 38.5mm version. Or a speedy pro. Will get one of them next year, probably the AT if budget will stretch.

I happened to look at Page & Cooper's new website on Thursday, as I quite like the thought of a Marathon Jumbo Diver (46.6mm case), and saw that Jonathan has the price @ £460 which is lower than I remember; I'm sure it used to be nearer to £600.

I've been thinking about one of these fairly massive watches for some time and I could probably just about fund one (at this price) if I sold my three Obris Morgans.

Day dream or reality?

Remember P&C post prices without VAT.

Jonathan is a good guy, but his pricing strategy is pretty much in line with the rest.

Each of us will face this question at least once in a year.

"Why do you have so many watches? You can only wear one at a time!"

Good point; he used to. New website lists non-EU and inc. VAT. £460 is inc. VAT.

Done a bit more research and his price reduction seems to be in line with the main (Canadian) Marathon website having 20% off on the Jumbo Diver.

Very tempting.

This picture on TRF got me into thinking the Hulk may be a beauty. I think it is probably one that needs to be seen in the flesh.

I am sure he won't mind me spreading the love:
