Thanks Ferg, it is +1 second after one day so everything is great mechanically too!

Time check:

Since last Friday (six days) – FLE shows +24 (+6 S/D)

Blue Slimline is -6 (-1 S/D)

Happy with both. :D

Brian the Snail delivered a package a few minutes ago. I wasn't expecting to get the #6 before 2017.

Both nice watches but does I think exemplify why I cancelled my order. Unlike its predecessors the FLE is wholly unoriginal.

That's as maybe BUT it's a third of the price of the 40mm C9 5 day and thus a darn sight more affordable / within budget for a lot of forum members (including me).

Just my two pence worth.

Also, it's not as if all its predecessors were THAT more original. The C60FLEs are well-loved, esp the scooter, but you could say it's just a C60 Mk1 with different coloured bezels and dials.

Or the FLE Kingfisher "merely" converted the standard quartz model to an auto model.

Ditto the C2 FLE - quartz model converted to auto, blued markers/hands instead of steel.

How's that more original than using the Slimline case but the hand/marker style from another model, and making the markers/hands rose gold?

Its immediate predecessor the 2013 FLE which I wear daily is original. Do you not agree, looking at the side by side picture, that the huge amount of time invested by forum members really was not justified given the outcome. Notwithsdtanding this, I would have been happy had the hands, originally designated by the forum been applied.

Besides never caring much for the MMXV text on the dial, this was a minor reason I gave my number up. Nothing wrong with the chosen hands but with this watch being an out and out dress watch, I really prefer the hands we voted on as they are more elegant. Also, they gave a starburst pattern at the right moment which was pretty unique and the current ones don't. Alas, they couldn't be used so what are you gonna do? :?

Aren't the hands still the C9 house-style, except it's the 2nd-generation slightly fatter ones from the 40mm C9 rather than the extreme needle shapes from the Monopusher and original 43mm C9? Still sharp and pointy and single-planed.

The 2013 C10 FLE final product in fact suffered a more extreme change from the design that was voted on. The whole rehaut had to be removed from the dial as the C10 case wasn't deep enough to house it. I don't see Robin complaining it isn't what the forum members voted on, but some others did.

Ultimately, if you like a FLE design enough, you're not going to complain it's a repeat of another CWL watch. And if you don't like it, then its originality isn't going to make you buy one.

I had to Google Private Fraser - I think I'd only ever watched 1 episode a very long time ago.

Wasn't sure if it was a troll post, but thought there was no harm reminding members, esp newer ones, that this isn't the first FLE where the watch produced had some changes from the design that the forum chose. Sometimes production issues rear their heads. Changes are made, and these cause some members to drop their order, and maybe others then decide they like the tweaked design.

We all have different tastes and priorities. That's why despite the fact that the forum's total number of members has grown with every year, the take up for FLE watches seems to remain consistent at around 75-100.
