Don't know anything about this watch, but feel fairly confident in guessing it is 30+ years old ;)

I had to look it up, but...
Great new word Steve! You're often better than M-W's "Word of the Day"!

Obviously a word that doesn't cross the pond, Tom! I'm not sure what word they use in your part of the world, but I believe that whereas I shall be marking exams, they would be grading tests. Am I right? Isn't language wonderful? :D

It's in american dictionaries so I guess it's made it across :D
I'd just never heard it and seeing it sent me directly to Merriam-Websters for the def:

in·vig·i·late
verb \in-ˈvi-jə-ˌlāt\

: to watch students who are taking an examination
in·vig·i·lat·edin·vig·i·lat·ing
Full Definition of INVIGILATE
intransitive verb
: to keep watch; especially British : to supervise students at an examination
transitive verb
: supervise, monitor
— in·vig·i·la·tion noun
— in·vig·i·la·tor noun
See invigilate defined for English-language learners »
Examples of INVIGILATE

He was asked to invigilate next week.

Origin of INVIGILATE
Latin invigilatus, past participle of invigilare to stay awake, be watchful, from in- + vigilare to stay awake — more at vigilant
First Known Use: 1553

They have a 'word of the day' that you can receive daily via email that's usually interesting...I enjoy new words but unfortunately my retention level is no more than a few minutes

Picked this up from eBay for a very cheap price, just creeps in here as early seventies.

Me neither but that's a really nice watch, lovely clean design and the movement is interesting to look at too.

I'd be pleased to have that in my collection.

Yeah, and surprisingly - given it's age - it isn't tiny. Smaller than I normally wear, but not by a huge amount ;)

I'm liking that too. Has a bit of a Junghans look about it.

Quite right Steve. I had the same thinking this morning and almost went for a Smiths myself.

In the end though settled for my C5 Battle of Britain, but that's for another thread ;)
