LLD on black rubber/white rubber/mesh/leather!
Thanks to StrappedUp (Ryan) for sending me this Barton rubber strap for my LLD. I’ll admit to having been nonplussed about rubber straps before, but this is the comfiest strap i’ve ever worn!

They’re a perfect match! Does the underside of the strap have a waffle pattern?
The more I see your watch, the more I’m loving it. It’s 36mm?

Re: LLD on black rubber
Really suits the watch Lindsey but as previously commented, think the LLD looks great on most straps/bracelets.
Ive also always been a bit underwhelmed by rubber straps despite having worn one for a couple of years (quite a while ago) and finding it was super comfortable.

Re: LLD on black rubber
Wouldn't a 'Tropic' rubber strap be optimum for the LLD?
Difficult finding a 19mm though?

The underside is smooth and bright yellow. You catch little hints of the yellow when you wear it, but it’s far more subtle than I thought it would be on first look.
And - yes - 36mm is the new black!

Re: LLD on black rubber
Thanks guy! I’ve never heard of Tropic straps before. I found a good brief write-up here:
http://magazine.bulangandsons.com/the-t ... atch-strap
They’re ‘currently’ only available in 20mm, and a bit expensive to be experimenting with squeezing one into a 19mm lug
Edit: Update! Tropic store rep in reply to a review of the strap says that the 20mm strap will easily fit a 19mm watch!

They are also quite easy to shave a tiny bit off!

Tropic straps you say?
The first thing to know is that all tropic straps are not created equal!
How bendable is it at the lugs?
If you have the wrong combination of a watch, with L2L of almost your wrist width combined with a strap that won’t bend enough at the lugs?
All you end up with is a good looking strap that pinches the sides of your wrist and won’t keep a curved shape.
I have no idea what these are like (however I have bought stuff from BB), but it will be a cheaper experiment than Bulang.
https://www.blackbough.co.uk/product/bl ... tch-strap/
There is also a black one.
I have not found one that would squeeze into a smaller lug width. If true, maybe that is an indication it would be bendable?
There is also a different style of tropic, with big holes. Google Submariner on a tropic...

Re: LLD on black rubber
Thanks Neil. I have a fairly cheap, but fairly soft 20mm rubber strap. I’ve tried (again) to squeeze it into 19mm lugs but have given up to avoid scratches.
I know exactly what you mean about stiffness at the lug, so it’s making buying a rubber strap online pretty difficult. However, in spite of wrist shots to the contrary, the lugs when i’m wearing the watch are 1cm from the edges of my wrist (I have flat wrists).
So I think this will be less of an issue than the lug width.
Maybe I could shave a bit off of an expensive strap without my hands shaking??!
Thanks everyone

Re: LLD on black rubber
^^^ What might be worth a try, albeit not rubber is one of these(shaved to fit).
https://www.watchgecko.com/zuludiver-qu ... atch-strap
They are a described as “sailcloth”, albeit a different texture to Brady sailcloth straps, which are well regarded.
I have a few, in each style. You would need to remove the QR springbars, but WatchGecko have guidance on how to remove them and they would be easy enough to shave to fit 19mm if required.
They are certainly bendable and thinner at the lugs than many of the tropic straps.
Edit:
I have just remembered a pic I have of a watch on the big hole style of tropic. Neil

Re: LLD on black rubber
I picked up a 19mm Tropic from cheapestnatostraps. I recommend it. Slightly stiff (though boiling water should help bake in a curve) but a very strong vintage vibe with a more extreme taper than usual. Reminds me a little of the Tropic which comes with the Oris 65 vintage.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 6:06 pm Wouldn't a 'Tropic' rubber strap be optimum for the LLD?

Re: LLD on black rubber
That doesn't look too bad Lindsey and they are definitely comfy
Uncle Seiko sells a 19mm Tropic strap.
It's long(ish) on the hole side of the strap, but it may be ok for you.

Thanks all of you - love the way you can get a world of good advice here and some detailed debate about something as ‘simple’ ( ) as a watch strap!
