Rubber strap recommendations for my first CW!

Post by Stone Hall »

I have acquired my first CW, my dream watch, the C65 Vintage 38mm. It’s everything I dreamed and more!

Now for some strap options as I only have the stock CW bracelet and a cheap brown leather strap available in 20mm. I’m really enjoying the bracelet, but I know I want a rubber strap soon.

CW’s is $65, but is there anything you’d recommend in the under $50 range that’s quality and attractive? I would like a black strap little bit of texture/pattern. Barton is ok but I really want a rubber not silicone, I think. The Benetto straps look like a good deal but I can’t find a texture/pattern in 20mm, which is weird.

Thanks!

Welcome to the world of CW watches.

Watchgecko has a large selection of straps. Their rubber Tropics are very good, but there are plenty of others too.

I can recommend the Barton silicone Elite straps, very comfortable, available in lots of colours and have quick release spring bars.

I Know you wanted a rubber strap.
But another vote for the Barton elite. with the 2 lengths supplied its easier to find the perfect fit, they are very supple and the best rubber/ silicon strap i have tried or own.

Another vote for a WatchGecko Vintage Tropic strap = really comfortable

or perhaps a Bonetto Cinturini Italian Rubber Strap = again really supple and comfortable
(I think that Rich may have one for sale viewtopic.php?f=46&t=52412 albeit in 22mm).

I can also recommend the Bonetto Cinturini rubber straps, decent prices at Watchgecko - I have the zuludiver 400 and its a great strap. The Hirsch Accent, made of Caoutchouc Rubber, is a difficult one to beat, but you would have to stretch the budget slightly.

I would also counsel, don't dismiss the CW strap as they are very good - thick, chunky and flexible. Only downside is no quick release bars, but you will get a CW buckle for the price.

Got a feeling that @Stone Hall is in the USA.

Maybe something from Strapsco.com or Strapcode.com will fit the bill.

Alternatively, a Hirsch Performance strap (admittedly over budget) but they always get rave reviews.

How about Barton elite? Great quality and very reasonable price.

I didn’t realize Watch Gecko shipped to the US for free, that might be a game changer. One of the Zuludiver straps in 20mm is perfect and at £28 ($35) I can easily make that work. They have leather straps too... might have to spend more than I planned after all lol

Yes, loads of praise for the Barton, and rightly so. I have one for my Seikos (22mm) and it’s a fantastic. I’m not a fan of their leather straps for some reason though.

If you end up spending more than £50 then the code WATCHUSEEK will get you 10% off at Watchgecko. Someone else on here may also know a discount code that works for under £50, there are a couple floating about I think.

If you are in the US, tho he does ship internationally, I can highly recommend these from
https://www.thewatchsteward.com
The most comfortable strap you will ever own, and very reasonably priced. I prefer the original series over the minimalist as it seems less fussy to buckel.

I have two 22mm straps from Watch Steward and I do love them! I’ll probably get a 20mm strap at some point. Watch Steward >>> Natos, without a doubt

I picked the Hirsch Arne performance strap for my C65 Trident Vintage and absolutely love it. A bit over your price point (by $10) but totally worth it. It's a sailcloth textured, waterproof leather bonded to a natural rubber. It's waterproof, incredibly comfortable, and not hot at all in the summer. I can't recommend it enough!
