Look at this, it’s one of those awful NATO thingies on one of *my* watches... Unheard of...

Although I myself have never worn a NATO; I have to admit that goes really well with your DH 1970.
I think the main thing that puts me off NATO straps is that it looks a bit complicated to work out how to fit and wear them....daft as that may seem to some.

The main thing that puts me off them are the two layers of fabric under the watch. I’m going to try it and see how it goes...

I've got the perfect NATO for your C7 Hornet, if you are interested, Gary.

For me, it’s the flappy bit which you have to fold back, leaving a carbuncle on the side of my wrist.
I keep meaning to butcher one and turn it into a RAF(?) by removing the flap, and I think that’s what a Zulu is. Not much point buying a strap which I don’t like, simply in order to cut bits off, but I may try it one one I already have.
My name is 0uatiOW, but before you ask, no I don’t.

The RAF Nato style is a single piece of fabric whilst as Zulu can be 3 ring (similar to RAF) or 5 ring (standard NATO); the Zulu hardware is chunkier and rounded0uatiOW wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:07 amFor me, it’s the flappy bit which you have to fold back, leaving a carbuncle on the side of my wrist.

I did exactly that with a NATO for my DH 40mm which was far too bulky for my liking.0uatiOW wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:07 amFor me, it’s the flappy bit which you have to fold back, leaving a carbuncle on the side of my wrist.

Neil, from that link, the Zulu is going to suit me even less than a NATO (yes, I recall I got one from you.... I don’t actually use it. Maybe that’s the one I’ll put under the knife).neilj568 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 11:04 amThe RAF Nato style is a single piece of fabric whilst as Zulu can be 3 ring (similar to RAF) or 5 ring (standard NATO); the Zulu hardware is chunkier and rounded0uatiOW wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:07 amFor me, it’s the flappy bit which you have to fold back, leaving a carbuncle on the side of my wrist.

Just noticed this. What the hell are you thinking. I thought you were a man of taste.gaf1958 wrote:Look at this, it’s one of those awful NATO thingies on one of *my* watches... Unheard of...
There is talk of a yellow card system on another thread, and this should be the first crime in the statute books to receive that punishment.
Hateful bloody things.

Natos.
Funny old things.
I own several but don't currently have one on any of my watches.
Both my Tudors came with one of those fancy "posh" natos, that are woven by the same angelic beings that weave stuff for the Pope.
I guess they're for when I go out on SAS missions or something.
Having seen the prices that people are asking for them on Fleabay, I haven't yet been able to bring myself to even open the packets on mine.
Maybe I should sell them, to recoup some of the outlay for the watches they came with?
