Disappointed they have made their new straps 'single pass'.

Would have preferred if they had stuck with a proper NATO style.

I like the colour of the new, darker, khaki of the 1936 A2.

Quite - I have the Carrier and Invasion in 20mm and was waiting for the 1936 to be available in a 22mm but won't be bothering now....presumably it is cheaper to make but still selling for the same price!!!

^^^ Have to agree with that. Although well made, the new A2 strap is not as ‘special’ as the original imo, and yes - simpler to make, but with the same selling price.

I’d prefer them to offer both configurations.

^^^^ My feedback would be - excellent single pass new style, that saves me cutting off the pointless flappy bit and means the watch sits flatter to the wrist, with a reduced amount of annoying metalwork to get in the way! :)

YMMV.

Agree that offering both options, to please more, would be the better option.

...and this is what they said

Dear Neil,

Thank you for your email and feedback.

I regret to hear you that the new single pass approach is not to your preference. Although the NATO styled extended second layer is familiar to us all, we thought long and hard before streamlining the layout to its current form.

The A2 updates are the result of months of prototyping, testing and countless feedback since our launch. One main focus of this feedback was that our original traditional double layered layout often lifted the watchcase too far off the wrist. Our new single pass layout offers a lower profile and more streamlined wearing experience as a result. Further more, the heavier weave of the webbing already retains the majority of watch cases during mounting, and therefore voids the original purpose of the extended second layer. Lastly, the adjusted weave style, which returns to shape, was selected to facilitate a neat and structured wearing profile with the new layout.

Going forward, our focus will be to introduce our other patterns in A2 form. However, in addition to the recent canvas line launch, we also have other new categories in development which are close to completion which explore other specific roles and styles in which we wear our tool watches. According to the material characteristics, we may still retain the extended layer for these categories.

I do hope that will be able to try one of our single pass straps at some point and am confident that you will enjoy the updated features as much as we do.

Warm regards,

Alex

Joined in as well.

It's a very soft and comfortable strap. I like the single loop, it has none of the bulk that Natos sometimes have.

I thought I would dislike it a lot but I have to say I quite like it....although I still probably prefer the traditional NATO style

Having got both designs i still like the A2 especially with the new canvas. Torn with the normal and the A2 as i find the watch sits a little bit better but overall there is not much in it.

@savagemouse - all three look excellent.
