What should be the basis for the new LE?
Re: What should be the basis for the new LE?
Thought long and hard about this one.
The Trident would appear to be a hit before it's even released, judging by the comments on the forum. Which makes me wonder if the desire for a Trident GMT LE sometime next year will be diminished by the number of forum members who will by then have added a standard Trident GMT to their collection.
So, the C8 gets my vote in the hope that we might then see the mechanical C8 that lost out in the voting last year. Though given the clear lead of the Trident I guess there is always next time... and my collection could do with a GMT.

I get the impression that the voting my change a little once the prices for the Trident are confirmed.
Moreover, I doubt that may people would want to wait the best part of a year to get their grubbies on a Trident, limited or otherwise.
I reckon the C8 will end up being 'the one'. Hardly a major downside, really? It is a rather lovely-looking thing.
Nobody loses. Nobody.

Personally I think you are correct in that the Trident in any version is going to do well.mjh93sa wrote:Thought long and hard about this one.

Regarding the LE, whatever it may be.......remember that the designs have yet to be started. The options at this time are unlimited relative to the constraints of money and availability of any special movements that may fit the chosen cases. Just because the C60 Trident and C8 cases may win does not mean that the LE will look anything like those models, they may, but they may not. Any number of ideas may be presented and possibly used or perhaps an independent offering may get chosen based on some other case.
It is the teams hope that we will, in the end, have at least 2 possibly 3 to put forth for a vote.
Hans is away on holiday. Upon his return in a couple of weeks, we hope to get this process moving forward. One thing I have found a bit surprising is that only 67 votes have been cast.
Everything is still wide open for ideas at this point, lots to think about. I am hoping that a few of you are doing some work on some freelance designs. When the time comes, we will need them quickly.

Re: What should be the basis for the new LE?
Me and a bottle of Shiraz have been thinking about this.
(2008 "The Hedonist". Thank you Mr and Mrs and Mr S.)
I had voted for the LE to be based on the C8, despite my scrawny wrist and the C8 being on the large size.
I had dismissed the Trident partly because it was still in the design stage, partly because I thought that, based on the mock-ups, that I'd buy a Trident anyway, so wouldn't want an LE based on the same case at roughly the same time and partly because I thought that getting the regular model to market and an LE too might prove problematic for CWL.
The Shiraz has convinced me to change my vote.
The C8, with its big dial and no bezel will 'wear' too big for me.
I'd be buying a watch not a design.
I'd rather have a great looking, exclusive, LE than the Trident for the masses.
CWL will just have to accept the challenge of getting both out.
...oh, and I wanted to bump this thread too...

I think everyone is awaiting the arrival of Tridents/C9's/C90 1st
Re: What should be the basis for the new LE?
Yes. Too much good stuff coming out together. I haven't thought about the LE for ages; it's been kicked into touch by the lovely C90 flaunting it's power reserve - the little minx.highway61 wrote:I think everyone is awaiting the arrival of Tridents/C9's/C90 1st

Re: What should be the basis for the new LE?
We are moving a bit more slowly this time for a variety of reasons. It is far from forgotton and is being worked on now. We are hoping to have a bit more variety this tme around. All votes and idaes have been considered so far. Hang in there...it will be a bit longer before we are ready to present anything concrete.JohnIvan wrote:Just curious if there was any updates on the 2010 LE?
