You know you’re wearing it...

Post by missF »

As watches seem to trend towards slightly smaller sizes again, I wondered if anyone wants to share their beasts. The watches with max wrist presence, minimum slip-under-a-cuff-ability! Whether it’s a 7750 movement or 1000 m WR that increases the size, or whether you just have skinny wrists like me, let’s celebrate wrist presence!

I have three hefties. But in mitigation two are very specific tools:

1. Gshock GWN1000 for sailing

2. Citizen BN2036 for diving

3. Chronoswiss Timemaster which though low profile boasts a L2L of 56mm

Over time I have rinsed the larger watches out of my collection, although my latest incoming is pushing my own boundaries a little at 44mm (51mm L2L)..

I did once have the 44 mm C8 Pilot Mark 1, but my biggest one recently has been Poseidon, the 43 mm C 60 GMT. Lovely watch, which I wore on holidays for a couple of years. However, last time I went away (in the dim and distant past, Christmas 2019) the crown made a mess of the back of my hand so I sold it

I still have 42 mm watches in the Speedy and the C70s, but they don’t wear as big, nor are they as tall or as heavy.

I tend to associate “wrist presence” as relating to watches that are too big and/or not subtle. Watches that generally don’t readily fit under a cuff.

I still have a few, although I tend not to wear them.

On the other hand, if I lean towards defining “wrist presence” as something heavy, iconic and classy, but with a touch of bling, but still fits under a cuff until revealed, to check the time.

45mm on a 6” wrist. About 53mm lug-to-lug. Part of the reason it’s posted in sales corner right now!

That's likely a perfect size for me.

My 'You Know . . 'watch, well one of them, has got to be the Marathon CSAR.

46mm case width, 17+ mm tall, and c. 250g on its bracelet

which can actually look quite smart on a black leather strap from Elliot Brown, the fitted ends of which work 95% in getting a perfect fit; help by the CSAR having drilled lugs.

I've got a couple of G-shocks that are large BUT they are too light in weight, that you can actually forget you're wearing them. :problem: :problem:

I’ve got nothing to add in the way of a watch, but I will add that it’s threads like this that make this forum great! I’m enjoying all the pics and commentary!

Only 39mm but certainly has a lot of wrist presence.
