Congratulations on your retirement Steve, wishing you a long and happy one.

Perhaps it is good you are still doing a little teaching next year to ease you more gently into retirement.

Cheers Patrick

I hope you don't mind, Steve - I opted for a wee dram rather than a G&T.

The sentiment is, however, the same - a glass raised to wish you a healthy, happy and long retirement.
Time flies whether you're having fun or not. The choice is yours.

Welcome to the ranks of retirement Steve. I’ve never looked back; I hope the whole thing works just as well for you as it has for me.

I keep telling people that I’ve no idea how I used to find the time to go to work... Best wishes and my hope is that you find yourself in the same satisfying predicament.

Steve, I honestly don’t think that your timing could have been better with the state of the world at the moment although the travel worrying may have to take a back seat for now!

It may seem a bit of an abrupt halt but good luck and enjoy yourself for a long, happy and healthy retirement.

Now is the time for “ish” time mate
Cheers now, Paul

Congratulations & all the best for your next steps. I was going to say “good luck”, but I’ve read some of your holiday posts here, and you don’t need luck. Talent will find a way.

Wierd day it may well be for now...but one that you will, no doubt, fall into with aplomb. I'm fresh out of tonic, so a simple single malt will have to suffice.
Here's hoping it will be many years before you retire from this asylum.

Congratulations Steve.

Enjoy the travelling once things are back to normal.

Retirement seems weird in any event, took me a couple of weeks to get used to when I called it quits 5 years ago.

Thanks for the kind comments, folks! The send off will be taking place at some point next year, but I’m in anyway for the odd half day next year.

My boss did approach me several weeks ago and say that they were a bit concerned over what to do about my retirement. Normally there is a party of some sort if you have been there a long time, and you are free to invite friends and former colleagues. This obviously couldn’t happen so I said I was quite happy to postpone it. The alternative, I told him, was to give me a Rolex or similar and tell me to sod off. He didn’t seem too keen on that one.
