I loved that. (A lot more than the Wales match!)

Re: Rugby World Cup
Without rising to any baiting that may be going on
Japan are clearly a very good team, which I think everyone realised after they beat Ireland. So it's not a massive shock to me that they beat Scotland. We played ok in spells but they were just too strong.
If I were a Springbok, I'd be concerned about facing them in the QF's.

No baiting, Patrick.
Just huge respect to an incredible team and country.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Yep, no baiting from me either. I watched it as a neutral - especially as both teams play attractive rugby - and it was as close and entertaining as I'd hoped. A great game of rugby. And Japan are truly an excellent team at the moment, coached extremely well.
Hard luck to Scotland. But next week's QF between Japan and South Africa is going to be essential viewing!

Re: Rugby World Cup
Had a little bit of a bait, but couldn't resist!! ,
Japan really stepped up to the plate and continued with their superb performance.
Unfortunately they shut Scotland down and whilst there was the odd moment, Scotland lacked opportunities as opposed to playing badly.
Hard to pick SA Vs Japan.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Harmless banter/baiting between fans is what sets rugby (both codes) apart from football in my opinion. Anyway, its not often that a game of union keeps my attention for the full 80 these days but that game today was very enjoyable. Oh, and also a thought for all the victims in Japan too

Re: Rugby World Cup
Don’t talk to me about banter! I will never forget 17th March 1990 when I watched the Grand Slam decider in a room full of Scots!
I was living in Pitlochry at the time. Went to plenty of Murrayfield games in my eight years there, but couldn’t go to that one. Probably a good thing.

There’s nothing like both sets of fans in the same pub before and after a game, and being together in the stands.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:42 pm Don’t talk to me about banter! I will never forget 17th March 1990 when I watched the Grand Slam decider in a room full of Scots!

One of the great things about rugby is that this is possible!!TigerChris wrote:There’s nothing like both sets of fans in the same pub before and after a game, and being together in the stands.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:42 pm Don’t talk to me about banter! Re: Rugby World Cup
Although I am more of a football than a rugby man, sadly you are right. In football there would likely be a barney

Re: Rugby World Cup
How true! I remember going to Twickenham for a game when England were humiliated by a South African team including Os du Rand and the late great Joost vd Westhuizen.
We were, to say the least, a little disoriented and befuddled by the time we got back to my friend’s flat in Hammersmith, having spent several hours in a pub with a bunch of lovely Afrikaners.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Looks like there have been developments following the Japan vs Scotland match.

Apologies to my wife and any other Scots I know.
For full disclosure I would point out that I think I also have some Scottish ancestry and therefore able to legitimately post this.

Brilliant!
Full disclosure: I have no Scottish ancestry but feel as though I have the right to laugh as the Scots take the mickey every time England get beat at anything

I guess we walked right into that one by threatening legal action before the match.
That’s right Chris, better hope England win the RWC
