Reduce desk diving damage
Reduce desk diving damage
I can kill two birds with one stone here.
1. Show off my 3 legged pet....much like my watch collection, not perfect, but I love him all the same. He also loves my desk.
2. I was fed up with desk diving damage to watches bracelets and a while ago bought this. I pretty much eliminates bracelet and watch edge damage all for £6.99 and it's a great mouse surface whilst still being supportive enough as a desktop writing surface.

Probably teaching you guys to suck eggs, but just in case people have not done this already.

Excellent post Dave!
That is a great idea, and I especially like the idea of it extending the mouse mat area.
Being a big fan of cats, I love the way that your little friend is guarding your work station.
Thanks for sharing this.

Agreed! And I have found a white one given I want it to match my generally-white set-up

In fact I went for the map, I wasn't too worried about discolouring but liked having something of interest

Re: Reduce desk diving damage
Thinking back, to when I used to sit at a desk on a regular basis, I used to have a large leather ink blotter on the desk (no quill pen though). Probably one of the reasons why I tended not to get marks on the bracelet.
However other strategies used to avoid such damage include:
1. Avoid sitting at a desk wherever possible - my preferred option 2. If caught short sitting at desk without adequate protection - keep watch under cuff 3. If out and about one finds oneself at a restaurant table without a tablecloth, use a portable rubber mat 4. As a last resort damage may be avoided by wearing protection over the watch (a thick plastic film would allow one to still tell the time, but looks a bit odd) Another sensible option, that I have read about elsewhere, is to cut to clasp size a mobile phone screen protector. If applied neatly it isn’t really noticeable.

Re: Reduce desk diving damage
Although as far as I can make out many Rolex owners are a bit apprehensive about wearing desirable models like that at all. Fortunately there are still many that just treat them as watches and wear them normally, realising that the normal wear marks will be made good at service.

Re: Reduce desk diving damage
I use one of these although not for the purpose of protecting my watch. That said it keeps your wrist completely off of the table so no damage to the watch while typing.

Re: Reduce desk diving damage
Based upon my experience of Rolex owners they are polarised into two camps: babying them to the nth degree or using them to bang nails in ( my wife!!!!)nbg wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 3:36 pmAlthough as far as I can make out many Rolex owners are a bit apprehensive about wearing desirable models like that at all.
