I watched a review of the new Jimney on Carwow the other day - looks like it could be fun. 2 year waiting list though? Wow!

That looks fab! Worth the wait I’d say! My sister had one of the originals, way back when God were growing up in Yorkshire. She loved it!

Jeremy Clarkson reviewed it in The Sunday Times, last weekend.

Yes, I was astounded when the dealer told us it was a 2 year waiting list!

We didn't actually go there to look at one - we were looking at potential small cars for the outlaws and saw it on the forecourt in the colour pictured. It's called Kinetic Green and, surprisingly, is a standard option colour.

Driving experience is as you would expect with nothing like normal car comfort levels or performance, but the whole thing just works and puts a big smile on your face. The last car we had that evoked the same feelings was the Mini Cooper convertible that had to go just before the relocation to Devon simply due to the logistics of moving four cars to the other side of the country.

We currently have two off road 4 WD which are both gas guzzling monsters so the Jimny would be an ideal replacement for our much loved but ageing Shogun, giving the go anywhere capabilities we need in a much smaller package.

We would love another Mini convertible (best pound for pound convertible you can buy IMO) but it would get shaken to pieces going back and forth along what pass for roads around here!

Just have to wait for the phone call while contemplating whether to turn it into a miniature Defender when it arrives:
