Did the 'ring with some friends last year. The car we were in (Jag V8) hit 0 miles of fuel remaining when we were approx a third, maybe half, through the last lap. We limped the rest then to the expensive fuel stop up the road!

The beeb are reporting Vettel is leaving Ferrari at the end of the season - I think that'll be Seb retiring and focusing on family life.

Interesting. Ricciardo reminds a little of Button - worthy of a championship but in the wrong place at the wrong time. For button the planets aligned and he made the right call to stay with Brawn, the team held their nerve, and he had the edge over his team-mate.

I think Ricciardo is going to need similar good circumstance to bag himself a title. I can see him working well at Ferrari, and he deserves the opportunity, but Leclerc is just as good as he is and I sadly can't see Ferrari delivering a standout car. Maybe the new regs will help but you could say that about every team. Whereas Alonso should have dragged an average Ferrari to the title in 2010/2012 I don't think the dynamic would be there for it to happen again.

Anyway, all that's irrelevant because if there's a seat in a red car going spare then Hamilton is going to get it, isn't he? :-"

The fallout from the Vetel announcement has started. McLaren have announced that Ricciardo will partner Lando Norris for the 2021 season. This almost certainly means that Carlos Sainz will move to the vacant seat at Ferrari.

The question is then: who will take the second Renault seat? Both Vetel and Alonso could be interested, but as the 2020 chassis is the same as last years car and will now be carried over to 2021, would either be prepared to race a 2 year old midfield car in 2021? I doubt it! I suspect one of the Renault junior drivers will be promoted to the F1 team for next year as the team prepares for a big push for 2022.

Sainz confirmed at Ferrari. I reckon no change at Mercedes and Vettel retires. Hulk back to Renault.

Quite shocking really for McLaren, particularly when you look at the wealth of the major shareholders.

Turning point for McLaren was when they lost Vodafone as a main sponsor, boardroom battles with Ron, power unit issues with Honda, driver criticism with Fernando etc, never mind the $100M Ferrari gate fine in 2007!

The road car division which has designed some very good models since it's re-launce in 2011 has also from what I can gather annoyed plenty of owners with poor qc, too many special editions, extortionate pricing for parts and servicing and poor residuals.

Sadly not surprised with covid-19 and the fact they have a high level of debt that they are in trouble - I hope they survive both on track and road, but learn from their mistakes.

3 place grid penalty for Hamilton announced just before the race, after a Red Bull appeal to the stewards. Digital yellow flag board takes precedence over marshall waving green flag.

Promotes Norris to 3rd on the grid!
