Leclerc signing for so long on a relatively low salary seems slightly short sighted to me. Excellent value for money certainly in comparison to his outperformed teammate

He’s still apparently on €9 million pa, not too shabby for a 21 year old. Tax free too presumably being a Monagasque.

Yeah fair point Guy but they'd have to be pretty large to get him up to vettels level but there's nothing to say he won't continue and improve on this year's performance to get the dollar. Obvs vettel is a world champ, but he's less than half salary wise but not (in my opinion at least) half the driver. Young yes and a long contact is great for peace of mind but I'd be surprised if he's not easily worth $9m and more very soon and therefore be under market value. Maybe some interesting performance related get out clauses in there.

I've updated the thread to F1 2020 Motorsport - if someone prefers to create a new thread for the coming year then no problem and I'll change the thread title back.

In other news...
Max commits to Red Bull until 2023 and understandably the OZ GP may be in doubt.

Ferrari have got their star driver tied up - Leclerc
RB ditto - Verstappen.

Hard therefore to see LH leaving Mercedes where is undisputably top dog and move to Ferrari or RB where he'd have to expect the team to devote a lot of resource/focus on their young guns who clearly are both likely future champions, particularly after LH has retired.

Lewis can surpass Schumacher's F1 driving records in the coming 2020 season with:
9 more points-position-finishes
5 podiums
8 wins to become the most successful F1 driver of all time
10 wins (unlikely) to also surpass Michael's record of 72 wins for a single team
Pole position in Australia (if it goes ahead) to make it 9 times on pole there, the most of any driver at one grand prix

Now officially cancelled for May. Unlikely to be rescheduled due to so many races planned for this year.
