Kimi says he has pulled a muscle but may still be fit to race, Ericsson on stand by in case not.

Probably more in case they decide to drop the underperforming Giovinazzi.

Bottas confirmed at Mercedes for 2020. Ocon to Renault, replacing Hulkenberg who's likely off to Haas for next season.

'Playing Sports' apparently, Kimi style.

If Grosjean is retained then he must have some good leverage on Gene and Guenther!

No confirmed news or statement of a fatality, just a huge smash. Hopefully the drivers involved are ok.

Shambolic final run in qualifying. Like a Kirin track cycling race.

No-one wanted to be at the front and only Carlos Sainz crossed the finish line in time to set a 2nd qualifying lap. Everyone else was too late!

^^^I saw that accident from the F3, that was scary and lucky the guy is ok. I read it was caused by a barrier to stop them going too wide at the corner and gaining a time advantage. That barrier has now been removed not surprisingly after acting as a launch pad for that F3 car

Yes agree, Q3 of the F1 was a bit of a farce, not a bad result for the Mercedes splitting up Ferrari with Hamilton and Bottas in P2/P3. The pace of the Ferraris in a straight line is going to be tough to overcome for the other teams, some of the "corners" at Monza are taken at about 250 km/h.

Mercedes and Renault are surprisingly close to the Ferraris, especially in race pace. It may be an interesting closing few laps in the race tomorrow!

Another good race!

Perhaps not as entertaining as Germany, but good to see Leclerc vs Hamilton pushing each other. Bottas didn't have the pace to push Leclerc like Hamilton. The Mercs either ran into the limiter when slipstreaming, or could only match and not go faster then Leclerc - that Ferrari does have plenty of power.

Also good to see Albon get sixth.

Cost savings aside, with the recent close racing/results that we've enjoyed, it makes you think they should delay the new 2021 vision for a few years and get more life out of the current regulations.

I agree it was a good race. Imo though Leclerc was very fortunate not to get a penalty for not leaving space for Hamilton on the outside in that tangle they had, he also seemed to make more than one change of direction to cut across Hamilton later in the race, again contra to the rules. So good racing but this black and white chequered flag (basically a yellow card) is a load of nonsense.

At this rate, Leclerc is going to be number one at Ferrari for next season (if he isn't already) and Vettel might not even be in a Ferrari (although he is contracted for next season). That was such a basic error to spin under no pressure and then nearly get T-boned by Stroll when he came back on right in front of the Racing Point, madness.

A well written and balanced view from Jolyon regarding Sunday's race.
