He'll probably blow up on the parade lap, but I've just had a small bet on Max to win the Australian GP...and Giovinazzi to finish in the top 6.
A fool and his money...
The RBR Honda is looking strong in FP1 at least. Certainly more supple than the Mercedes! You might be on to something...

I think you'll need a crash for your other bet. Maybe Max will deliver that on Sunday too

Just been watching the new SKY welcome to the weekend show, still no sign of Ted...Chandhok seems to be taking quite a prominent role.

Ted does have his own show, starting Wednesday.
https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/32574/te ... -show.html

Last chance for your F1 predictions as practice starts in a couple of hours.
Mentioned by Crofty during FP1 Ted won't appear until China, other than his own Midweek show.

Based on the consensus, looks like #6 World Championship for #44 Lewis.

Friday practice was inconclusive. Mercedes faster than Ferrari, by an amount that goes against the flow from Barcelona testing, when Ferrari were a smidgen quicker. But hey, what do we know about fuel loads / power outputs / upgrades etc.

What is clear, sadly, is that Williams are woefully slow. :(

Acid test 6:00am tomorrow morning with qualifying.

Hi guys
Avid motorsporter here.. mind if i add my 2019 predictions (no probs if too late).

F1 position: 1Vettel (reluctantly) 2. Hamilton 3. Leclerc

Fired: Grosjean

Really wanted to see Williams come good or at least best of the rest after Merc, Ferrari, Redbull but looking very ominous.

Ill be at Brands Hatch with my 6yo for the BTCC in a few weeks and that looks like it will be a really tough fought championship this year.

I would love to be racing myself but family and funds preclude nowadays so ill be watching lots (as usual). The 6 y o also loves to go to brands to watch the BSB or club bike championships and its always entertaining... As a 4 wheel man, those guys have some bottle (or are a bit crazy) but you have to admire the quality of the racing.

Agree, Norris did well for his first F1 qualifying session.

Ferrari, what a shocker but points are awarded on a Sunday. Could be track specific, but I'm sure they are worried.

Bottas did well, could quite easily have been on pole and didn't stack the car, so already better than last year.

Max looked a bit ragged, but no issues from Honda yet and what happened to Racing Point?

Looking forward to see what happens tomorrow, but it feels like a Merc 1, 2.

I knew, we all knew Williams would be slow, but dead last and by so far, after reading this it won't be sorted out anytime soon.

Max has gone to 12-1 so also had a cheeky £5 each way, that RBR looked much better in race simulation trim in practice. A podium is very possible!

Did everyone catch the Bottas radio message after he crossed the finish line "to whom it may concern...". Perhaps a reflection of being 2nd driver in 2018 and having to adhere to some challenging team orders, or, just a competitor with some steely fight in him answering his critics.
Good drive though and if he can set a precedent in the 1st few races maybe he wont be considered 2nd driver for team orders later this season.
Good drive for Mr Norris too, hope he builds on it as a solid start.

Ferrari giving out team orders already in the first race of the season to keep LeClerc behind a struggling Vettel

Early days however it looks promising for a close battle this season for wins/podiums - Bottas looks stronger, Honda looks like it has got its act together in the RB.

The next race in Bahrain is quite a different type of circuit (easier to overtake) so we will probably get a better idea on relative performance of each team after that.

I mentioned after qualifying that Bottas wasn't far off pole, so good for him - whether he can keep his form throughout the season we shall see, but with Ocon visible in the garage, he knows he must perform otherwise he's likely to be replaced next season or earlier. I watched the race, but didn't bother with the analysis afterwards, but it looks like Merc pitted Hamilton far too early to cover Vettel who wasn't a threat.

Overall a pretty average race, but it's a difficult circuit for overtakes - which is part of the F1 problem, not just the cars that need to be changed, but some of the circuits may look good, but are difficult to overtake on.

Bahrain, China & Azerbaijan all take place by late April, so we'll soon have a better idea of the pecking order. I reckon the Azerbaijan race will be a cracker especially with the modified DRS.
