I did a 191 mile stint on Thursday, visiting 11 different collection/drop off points. Eventually the FJR1300 becomes uncomfortable for my knees but overall, it's a great bike.
Well done Richard
My weekend stint was as follows: Friday night 19:00 - 01:00; Saturday 09:00 - 00:00; Sunday 09:00 - 18:30 (albeit I did get a couple of breaks on Saturday and Sunday).
Yes, I agree the FJR is a great bike
However, I did find notice a couple of things...
First, like you, my knees started to ache but that was from the pressure against the internal knee guards in my Rukka trousers (a relatively easy fix);
Second, it's quick (from what I'm used to) and keeping the speed down was, err, challenging.

^^^ That's a lot of hours.

My next shift (Wednesday 07:00 - 19:00) will be using an alternative bike as "my" FJR is in for a service. The alternative is an older F800GT which some of our riders prefer as it is lighter. I've used it once in the past and I have to say I prefer the FJR, although the BMW is perfectly ok.

Yes weekend shifts are the busy ones especially Friday evenings.
I cover quite an area as well, the "patch" covers Swindon - Marlborough - Devizes - Warminster - Shepton Mallet - Paulton - Bath - Chippenham - Malmesbury (and everywhere in between).
My next shift won't be until mid-March now where I'll be covering Mon-Thurs 19:00 - 07:00 each night.

I'll be very interested to hear your thoughts on the F800 Richard.
We have one of these which is primarily used to cover to inner city work in and around Bristol.
I think that I still prefer the old BMW R1150/1200RT's for riding position and comfort
...but the benefit of the reliability, cost of servicing and repairs meant the switch to the FJR's.

Keep up the great work

Not so much of a ride as a gentle push from the back of a van to my garage...

My new (to me) Honda arrived. 2019 CB1100EX, definitely pampered by the original owner and cleaner than any used bike has a right to be.

My challenge will be to keep it looking decent whilst ensuring I enjoy using it.

This is not the most popular model in Honda's range, and certainly not as popular as many other "modern classic" bikes - such as the Triumphs and Royal Enfields, or even the R9T or Z900RS. For me though it ticks plenty of boxes and the engine/gearbox is the big bonus - not the most powerful, but probably amongst the smoothest. It's a very relaxing ride and other than being a bit heavy (like me) it feels very well put together. It also seems great value second hand, at the equivalent value of my recently sold Yacht-Master.

Bring on the summer!

I'm beginning to think about it seriously at the moment.

If I get a break of 2 - 3 dry days, that'll be the catalyst.

Beautiful bike and, being naked, has built in speed regulation courtesy of wind blast!

But......just look at all those shiny bits and spokes  I reckon the ride time to cleaning time ratio will be about 1:10

I am sure you will enjoy both aspects of ownership

Cheers,

Paul

Yes, it's going to take some time to keep it clean.

Enjoyed a ride in the winter sunshine this morning and spent an enjoyable hour cleaning it this afternoon. Simple pleasures. :D

Might have to get some heated grips though...

Thanks. I'm not really a "private plate" kind of bloke (or at least I didn't think I was), but I got this one a while ago for a vehicle I owned that had a crap reg plate. It was on retention so I thought I'd make use of it. I also like the fact that the bike is a bit more "ageless", which suits it, I think.

It’s a good looking bike for sure, albeit I don’t know much about them.

Better hang on to all your old toothbrushes going forward for cleaning all the nooks and crannies on that lovely chrome/engine!

If I ever get to toothbrush level bike cleaning, I think it will be time to change something! :o
