Had a great time riding across Hardknott and Wrynose Pass this morning. These are epic roads in the Lake District - single track, steep (30%), gnarly road surface, extremely tight hairpins, bad cambers and a few car drivers who don't appreciate that bikes don't have reverse gears!
The weather was great - unusually so. Fantastic day out.
Windermere was also looking good:

^^^Done them both, by car, in the summer. Not the most enjoyable drives I’ve ever done! I’d rather do them ON your BMW than IN mine! Lovely scenery though!

Relatively quiet up there midweek in September, Steve. I can imagine it's hard work if there's a fair bit of traffic.Thermexman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 8:17 pm ^^^Done them both, by car, in the summer. Not the most enjoyable drives I’ve ever done! ^^^It certainly was hard work as it was extremely busy. So many people A) can’t drive! & B) don’t know the width of their own cars! The number of times that someone simply stopped and shrugged despite having a foot and a half of extra space on their side...
Steve.

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride
I drove the Hardknott Pass whilst on holiday in the Lakes a few years ago.
Very much agree with both your sentiment Steve and Richard. Whilst I wasn't able to attack it (in consideration of my passenger) it was nevertheless quite enjoyable, with the increased ground clearance, 4WD and auto gearbox of my Yeti paying dividends.
I'm off on holiday next week, not to the Lakes, but Scotland, using the Old Military Road to get to the North Coast 500.
Life could be interesting.

Must be one of most boring boating videos out there. Out with my boat + electric outboard. Just some plashing and wind noises in the mic

Nice one, scooter. You put me to shame regarding the electric bike.

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride
Last Sunday I completed the Poppy Scotland Sportive in aid of the Earl Haig Fund, raising a decent total of donations thanks to family, a few friends including a forum friend
It was tough going, just under 50 miles in fairly hilly terrain in East Lothian with a stiff North Easterly wind which we were cycling into more than it was helping. I think if I do this again I will possibly invest in a road bike, the hybrid is probably a quarter to a third slower for the same effort which takes its toll on an old guy like me!
A couple of photos, my friend's Strava graph of the ride as well an action shot....that's me on the right hand side.
