Re: What book are you reading
I read all the time. I love fiction and have a group of favourite authors whose work I always read. Top amongst those is Murakami and I also like, being retired, the fact I have time to read books in the order of which they were released.
So for instance, I recently re-read all of Le Carre's books that are labelled under the heading of George Smiley. In respect of what I assume is the final one, 'A Legacy of Spies', I can't work out if the book is really as straightforward as appears? It's bugging me. Have I 'cracked' Le Carre? I know I will re-read it after first re-reading again, 'The spy who came in from the cold', which 'legacy' is really all about. Ho-hum, the conundrum continues!
But for some time, I have been reading about the EU, obviously prompted by Brexit, although the first couple I got under my belt, pre-date even the idea of a referendum. So in that vein, I am currently reading, 'the strange death of Europe: immigration, identity, Islam', which is quite thought provoking, to say the least. The author, Andrew Murray, is of the right, which makes him a target, just because, for some people, but for someone who worked in Government at this time and was dealing with this issue, as I was, albeit on what should have been the periphery, it helps to make some sense of the feeling of panic, chaos and paralysis that infected Government at that time.

Finished the Scerbanenco's collection of 21 short crime stories I did read next "La hora del dios rojo" (The honey guide) from Richard Crompton, a quite interesting detective story set in the 2007 kenyan election.

The adventures of Goodnight and loving. I keep re-reading this every couple of years as it's so entertaining. Might be an age thing, but I empathise with the main character so much.

Finished another Scerbanenco short stories collection, "Nebbia sul Naviglio ed altri racconti gialli e neri" and then "La targa", a little gem from Andrea Camilleri based on the successive name changing for a street in the mussolinian era.

Geoffrey Households’ Rogue Justice.
A sequel to Rogue Male published over 40 years after Rogue Male, however you’d never guess from the writing.
Obviously dated, set in the 1930’s and Second World War, but fantastic thriller writing, somewhat reminiscent of John Buchan, but more brutal.

Just started this...
Mainly because it was 99p in the Kindle store (it’s gone up to a fiver now), so nothing to lose.

Just starting The Thirst by Jo Nesbo, a Harry Hole thriller.
After that will be The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell. Saw and heard about it on Zoe Ball's Book Club and it sounds particularly spooky.

Just finished the “Mitch Rapp” Series by Vince Flynn. (For the second time)
Also, reading “Paul McCartney - Many Years From Now” by Barry Miles
I always have a fiction and a non-fiction on the go at the same time.
