Belated post from yesterday afternoon and evening.

Not a huge achievement in the great realm of things but I'm feeling a bit chuffed with my first solo baking effort.

OK its not Bake Off standard but it's very tasty.

AVO’s Drunken Pork...

Marinated in cider, garlic and chilli then slow cooked with spring onions, carrots, sage and oregano. Finished by reducing the cooking liquor with Calvados and cream. Rather tasty!

I don’t use set recipes for these things – just general principles and make up a few details as I go along. I find that as long as you use good quality fresh ingredients it’s difficult to go too far wrong with a slow cooker.

It's one of those seriously underrated and oft overlooked cooking methods.

Provided you brown the meat first, and reduce the cooking juices (or as in your case then add cream and calvados which is sheer genius!!) they are a great way of producing a flippin tasty meal!!!
