C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600 / patina

Post by RKid »

This is my latest purchase before and after forcing a patina. According to my wife I ruined the watch. What do you think?

Welcome to the forum.

Its simple with two rules;-

Rule 1;- One's wife is always correct.

Rule 2;- If one's wife is wrong; Rule 1 applies.

Good luck.

Sorry Andrew; apart from the matter of the patina matching the blue strap, I'm with RKid's wife on this one; its ghastly.

I think that your wife has a valid point since you asked.

I think you went too far with the focred patination, but it doesn't matter for 2 reasons:
1. It's your watch. If you like it, that's what matters (spousal opinion not withstanding).
2. It's bronze. If you change your mind, you can return it to it's original condition with relative ease.

Would look cool worn with a wetsuit. Not so much with jeans and a shirt

Thanks for your opinions.
I've never done this before, it is my first bronze watch. Outcome really surpassed my expectations, but I like it a lot. I used ammonia and salt.
It is something new that you can do more with your watch than just to change the strap :-)

It is amazing how much the bronze can change! Well done for your efforts. It would be interesting to see how well it could clean back up to the original state.

A great contrast to the usual relationship many have with their watches fearing getting a ding and a scratch to ruin a perfect timepiece.

If only it was the GMT version too as I feel that the almost light blue of the patina would perfectly match the GMT hand!

I think that's awful. Good job it's reversible.
I wear a bronze watch as a daily and have done since February 2018. I have removed one spot of verdigris that developed over a year ago. Since then, I just wear it.
The best bit about it is that it doesn't have to be pristine, the odd dink or scratch doesn't really matter. Which is why it gets worn all the time.

This was taken about a year ago, but it looks the same now.

I am following these bronze experiences with interest as I do like the look of the metal but don't like the corrosion - let's face it, that is what it is. OTOH cleaning one's watch (of whatever material) is mandatory once in a while so maybe I can find a place for a bronze, because as Paul says it does look to suit daily wear very well and the CW blue/bronze is gorgeous.

I agree with Paul and a few others, doesn't look great to me. I've had mine just over a year and let it patinate naturally as it was my daily wearer until new watches came along! It now looks pretty similar to Paul's which I think is great.

Always tempted to take it back to original state but happy as it is.

Wow, it's definitely a different look. I think I prefer it unpatinated but you should wear it how you like.

Personally I wouldn’t. But then, I don’t like bronze watches anyway, so ignore me. It’s your watch and your look.

The whole bronze thing is a too bit steampunk for me.

Possibly with some watches but not all. Certainly not the C65.
