This is just... weird, as in, what a weird coincidence.

Between Christmas and New Years Eve, I thought I'd pop Chris a mail informing him of the fact that I did eventually get a C3 Mk1, and some additional banter. The mail got bounced because Chris's company email address didn't work anymore.

So, this week I was thinking, what if Chris, after 15 years, decides to go do something else?

I see no immediate reason to think why the company should be renamed. Do we have reason to assume that there is animosity between the parties involved? I don't think so. It would be a sad thing if a company that sees its founder leave cease to exist, especially if a lot of employees are depending on it for their income. I'm fairly confident that, if they can iron out any bumps they're currently facing, they will find their bearings in the industry.

I wish Chris all the best in whatever it is that he's going to pick up now. I fondly remember our first contact in 2005 (with Wera, who got a very nice serial number to us on my wife's W1, and then exchanging regular emails with Chris until he got really really busy...), and getting all these first-era-logo watches, and I'm still cherishing them. My C5 Mark 1 and I will never part, and I will definitely keep an eye on them.

Didn't realise Wera and Chris were husband and wife but that makes sense of something's now.

Sad to see the departure but looking forward to seeing what the future has in store

I wish Chris all the best in his future endeavours. His personal response to my email, enquiring about the qualities of the original C60 Trident, heightened my interest in the CWL brand, in addition to convincing me to make the purchase.

I am perhaps naturally surprised to hear of Chris’ departure. I only met him once, and throughly enjoyed his company at the Edinburgh GTG.

All the best for the future Chris.

End of an Era when the man whose name is in the dial and the name of the company leaves the organization.

I have to say I am not that surprised as Mike France as been taking a more prominent vocal and visual position for a while now. I hope situation isn’t due to internal politics with Chris being maneuvered out of the company!

I've never met the man, but our email communications have been positive, professional and good humoured.

I wish him and his All The Very Best for the future.

I wish Chris well and change is a fact of life for any successful business. I am curious to know whether they will keep the CW name.

That feels like the right thing to say so I agree.

Otherwise where shall it all be in 12 months' time I wonder?

Good luck to Chris and whatever he chooses to do.

For CW, to lose the founder whose name is on the dial and domain name can only be a negative imho.

Look forward to the name change and new logo!

My email interactions with both Wera and Chris were always fantastic and I wish them nothing but prosperity in the future as they raise their family and enjoy their well earned retirement.

Thankyou to you both for all you did to help me on my watch interest and development.

I will continue to wear my Christopher Ward watches with pride!!

It is the end of an era, perhaps the end of one chapter and the start of a new one, with the recent outside investment in the business.

Chris I'm sure will be able to look back proudly on his achievements in growing the company to where it is today. Of course the brand will also continue to bear his name.

Best wishes to Chris (and Wera) for whatever he does next.

Chris and this forum has a lot to answer for as, it was finding Christopher watches and this forum in 2007 / 2008 that sent me down the rabbit hole and it to the depths of this hobby that I have never recovered from ;) and although CW towers was never quite the same once Wera left as there wasn’t anyone to sort an issue out, find the random watch down the back of the sofa or in the back of Chris’s draw in the way only Wera seemed to be able to but that hasn’t stopped CW from producing many great watches and the company on the whole going from strength to strength.

I just hope that Chris has stepped away on his own free will and that he and Wera have every success in what ever they choose to do next.

All the best

Well, what a surprise... Can only think there is more to the official statement. However, all the best.
