Re: CWL "Magalogue"
Love the mag.
Hate the prices of the new range, completely outrageous, sorry Chris u have lost the plot.
Sorry but after buying 8 CWL pieces in less than 12 months as they were good value and the customer service I recieved was second to none, I am now collecting elsewhere.

actually for a 7750 it's not....maybe not the bargain that CW's originally represented, but still not outrageous...

I'm with you '61.highway61 wrote:actually for a 7750 it's not....maybe not the bargain that CW's originally represented, but still not outrageous...
You can certainly get a 7750 cheaper than CWL, which is fine if you like the look of the cheaper watch (I confess I did find one)...
...and conversely...
The 2 sub-dial version is a modification that'll be difficult to better on price... if you like the CWL offering; it's a bargain, if not; "meh!".
As in a lot of cases this boils down to whether or not you like the watch.

Not for the ones on page 47 of the catalogue it isn't. This is the version with the single crown and very exclusive they are too.Snufflz wrote:No, however £750 is.

Re: CWL "Magalogue"
Hi
I am a new member to the forum though I have been reading it for the last year or so when I first discovered CW. It has been interesting to see the company develop over the last year and the number of new releases. I was most excited when I looked on the website on yesterday to see 8 new releases. However, like other forum members I was somewhat dissapointed to see the price tags.
Some of the watches look great and being a fan of IWC I can see some similarities in the C9s to the Portuguese collection. One of the reasons for my interest in CW was for the 'honest pricing' which in most cases still rings true. But with these new releases, are we seeing the beginnings of a departure from this company policy? Don't get me wrong, I still think these watches are great value (esp the 7750 mvms.) but feel it won't be too long before we see the first £1000+ CW watch. Another member mentioned that this would push some potential buyers into looking elswhere (ORIS etc.) and I tend to agree.
I will be interested to see how the new models sell and look forward to seeing photos on the forum in the not too distant future.
Thanks

Re: CWL "Magalogue"
Like the Magalogue. Very smart and some interesting articles.
I'll even admit that some of the photos really enhance some of the new models, especially the Black Dialled C9 GMT.
I think the C9 range is the best release for a while from CW, just a bit too IWC for me, but I wasn't sure of the GMT due to the inner ring but it looks better than I originally thought. Still not sure of the silver version and definitely not the Trident GMT. Great potential for a liquid filled "Quartz" Forum LE though and never thought I would be pushing for a quartz LE

Sorry Mr Beastmaster, I just think that those are poorly photo-shopped images. The C9 Chrono has pushers in all the photos of the watch!Beastmaster wrote:Not for the ones on page 47 of the catalogue it isn't. I know CW prices are on the up, but compared to the big brands they are still very good value for money. Unfortunately some of us have been rather spoilt by the early prices (my first full price Malvern was £185), so some of the new prices sem a bit steep. The Malvern still starts at only £225.

Re: CWL "Magalogue"
Lol I was being a tad facetious - truth is I am massively impressed with the new offerings. I like the names to, I would love to say, "I think I'll wear the Harrison today," or "It's going to be a Beckett's day today!"paw3001 wrote:[

Re: CWL "Magalogue"
I have got to say that despite my love of the CW brand and the pieces I own, there comes a point where you have to draw a line.
The C9 is a "stunning" watch visually, in my opinion, as is the C90. The new range is very tempting.
But the price rise in recent months is ridiculous. Tissot, Oris and a number of other brands all offer the same movement at a similar price and they all do the "non-CW" thing of sponsorship and mass advertising (which is added onto the price, as CW tell us).
So the argument needs to be, is the CW brand now going for mainstream pricing, without the overheads?
I for one will watch with interest and review my loyalty to a brand I trusted.

Each of us will face this question at least once in a year.
"Why do you have so many watches? You can only wear one at a time!"

Re: CWL "Magalogue"
I'd love to buy an automatic Oris diver for about £300 or a 7750 chrono from them for about £700...... Just think some people are overreacting to the new prices....they are still good value

Re: CWL "Magalogue"
I agree with 61 on this point. Are we in the UK not as discerning as, say, our European Counterparts? For example, compared to mainline Europe, the choice of watches in the UK shops seems very limited. Mostly cheap end watches or the bling end of the big names with one or two exceptions. Is this because in the UK we will not pay for quality? I have a book called 1001 watches which to be honest is pure hardcore watch porn! Intrigued by some of the names I have Googled a few. Hardly any seem available in the UK. One brand, Rainer Brand, doesn't seem to sell outside Germany and they produce some lovely watches which, although relatively expensive, are beautiful. These brands seem to produce a very limited range though. So I say three cheers to CWL both for their range and quality/price. Even £750 for the C9 Chrono still seems good value to me.highway61 wrote:I'd love to buy an automatic Oris diver for about £300 or a 7750 chrono from them for about £700......
