CWL 2009 plans

Post by Kip »

I asked Chris if he was ready yet to share his plans for 2009 yet. I asked him about some things that we have discussed or have been suggested over this past year such as.....

[Kip}
Pocket watch....his and hers....father /son.....premium line...new models....dropping models....what do you have up your sleeve
?

[Chris]

Al the above is on the table for discussion over a 4 week period In January…some work has already been done

On the cards are a more contemporary c1….probably hand wound

C2… chrono version

C3 …more colours…maybe a 42 mm version and a movement change

C4… possible Valjoux candidate and a movement change in the quartz version…

C5…40mm version…and some Les to mark 5 years

C5 av…maybe a 40mm MKII

C6 an auto …maybe with H£ technology

C7 series of LE’s with an international flavour

C8…. Secret surprise!

C13/c15…. As is

Ladies….mainly upgrades with intro of w7 diamond/w4 and w6

Nothing final…but lots in the melting pot…

Chris also informs me that despite the massive undertaking of the move to Switzerland, sales doubled in 2008.

He sends his thanks to all for making 2008 a successful year and for all comments pro and con that have been submitted.

He is listening!

Ok....some very interesting ideas and possibilities listed there :D

2009 could reveal some very nice watches, and probably a very big hole in my wallet by the end of it, lol

I cancelled my order for the Black Hawk and sorta regretted it, so I'm definitely interested in seeing what surprises are in store for the C8.

I was thinking how I'd quite like a C6 with a magnifying lens over the date actually... Maybe the possible auto's will have one :D

How about a W6??

My wife isn't alone in wanting a 'waterproof' multi -activity watch that's about 38mm so why not a C6 for the laydeeeeez :)

Seriously though,at least 6 guys here have asked me where to find a nice watch for their wives for swimming/skiiing/etc, all are llooking at the TAG Aquaracer in the ladies size.

Watches are like Dictionaries; the worst is better than none, and the best cannot be expected to go quite true.

I agree - think this is a really good idea.

I will be waiting to see what the new C8 will be like as I have been after one for ages. As you may know I love the C6 having 3 already, an auto version will be on my wish list. We will have to see what the 2009 LE will be like as well, so this should be an intresting year. I will need to start saving now.

And there was also mention recently in the Christopher Ward PMWF interview about a new watch with Cuervos Y Sobrinos influence:

".......we are in the process of creating a Vintage Cuervos Y Sobrinos watch. In fact, it is top of my list! It will certainly be a watch to aspire to."

That would be one more model to stretch our budgets!

Hand wound C1 eh?

I'm glad I didn't just order one then. I decided to purchase a watch just last week and it came down to a black/gold C1 or a white/gold C1 or the blue C6. The sale on the C6s won out and I now have one on the way. Well, on order anyways.

I have always thought a hand wound or automatic C1 would be great though so it looks like I inadvertently gave myself to a chance to get the watch I really want.

Sadly that will make 5 watches obtained in one years time if you get it out before fall....

Granted I didn't actually buy one (I was given a 23 year old custom Longines of my fathers) but still!

I am truly surprised that this is the first post regarding the C1. After all the bitching (including me) about getting a mechanical into this baby, it looks like we may finally get our wish, albeit a slightly different model I think.

I hope the face stays largely the same at least, a somewhat larger version might be nice though.

The only reason I don't have a C1 already is because its quartz, its probably my favorite design CW watch.
