Finally Christened….
Finally Christened….
My C60 Elite 1000 has been my “go to” watch pretty much since it landed. I’ve tried not to baby it too excessively, but I have swapped it out for other volunteers whenever I have done anything too harsh.
Today? Oh, disaster! Oh catastrophe! The end of the world is nigh!
Well, she has finally been christened, I guess. It sort of relieves the stress and worry, and any further battle scars will pass without further drama, I am sure
Keep safe,
C
PS - this was noticed just after a “wee” tumble off my bike. The bike suffered a bent front wheel rim, twisted front forks, broken rear gear derailleur and, I think, the frame is also out of alignment. The watch got off lightly

Lightly indeed for the watch. And for you, too! That sounds like quite a crash. And yes, know the pressure’s off with the watch.

If that’s what you call a “wee” tumble, I wouldn’t like to know what you class as a “bad tumble”

Glad to hear your Ok and your watch only suffering minor damage.
Hopefully your bike is easily repairable.

Re: Finally Christened….
The bike sounds like a write-off especially if you bent the frame. Well done to survive that "wee tumble". Now that it has earned its first battle scar the watch is truly yours.

Sorry to about your accident and the subsequent damage to your body, bike, the watch, and no doubt your pride.
Fortunately you, your pride and the watch will live on.

Re: Finally Christened….
I think this image should be used by CW for advertising alongside a picture of your bike wreck - ‘We hurled a bike and a CW watch downhill at great speed. The bike came off worst...’.
Glad you’re not as broken as the bike - that sounds like a nasty crash

watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Yea, glad you’re ok! I’ll agree though, that first scratch on a new watch lifts a weight off my shoulders.

I'm glad you are alright. From the picture is it just the scratch?
If so may I recommend buying one of the fibre glass pens? If you carefully and gently follow the brushed effect it will take the scratch out. It won't perfectly match the brushed effect but you will have no scratch and with everyday viewing you won't notice anything and your mental health will be improved
Disclaimer,..Do it at your own risk and don't blame me if you aren't happy with the results
Best of luck

Re: Finally Christened….
A fiberglass pen. Brilliant! Hadn’t thought of that. I was trying to match the grain of a brushed bracelet by comparing scratches on a piece of plastic made with 2000 grit sandpaper the other day, but didn’t quite have the nerve to try it on the metal. If I go too deep it won’t be good. I’ll try the pen.Deks wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 12:10 am I'm glad you are alright. From the picture is it just the scratch?

Re: Finally Christened….
If you do a search on Amazon for Modelcraft 2 mm Glass Fibre Pencil. That's the one I bought. I used it on the stainless steel bezel of a badly scratche'd 316L which I was considering sending back for a new bezel fitting and since using the pencil I'm more happy. It will never be perfect but I don't see the nasty scratches anymore. Im going to use it on the steel bracelet clasp next altho I'm also thing of getting some scotch brite to try

Re: Finally Christened….
OMG!! That’s barely worthy of the word ‘scratch’. I’d call it a scr at best. Doesn’t sound like the bike fared as well though.

Re: Finally Christened….
Even though my everyday watch is a bronze specifically because it can take a few taps; this is why I never wear a watch when I'm out on the bike.
I hope the bike is insured for accidental damage! OTOH - it could be an excuse for some man-maths to upgrade it!

Re: Finally Christened….
I don't think the fiberglass pen will work very well on the titanium case. The self healing properties of titanium should lessen the visibility of the scratch over time.
