A love letter to my C11 msl

Post by missF »

Dear C11 msl,

3B4B0528-3C44-4E55-81BD-6DB517F61049.jpeg

You were my first significant watch buy. My first love. I was head over heels from the time I first saw you.
It was your style, your boldness and your uniqueness that captured my heart.
You arrived in my life at a point where I was being very psychiatric, and I truly needed your steadiness and regularity in my world.

I changed a lot over the years, but you changed little (apart from a new Gunny strap in amazon green....)
You were dependable to the second.

In my flightiness and fickleness I eventually lost sight of your good qualities. We didn't seem to fit together as we once had. My wrists got smaller, and you seemed bigger. Your size started blinding me to the best parts of our relationship. I stopped wearing you almost altogether.....

C11 msl, forgive me? I've learned that sticky patches in a relationship don't mean that the relationship is dead. That working through those patches can bring great rewards. Just at the point where I was about to end the relationship I've put you on for one more time only to see you through new eyes. I'd like you to stay.

With love
missF

PS You're not a one watch any more - OK??

The C11 is a classic CW. I'm glad your love story continues. I'm a Micky Rooney of C11's - had 6 of them but it always ended in divorce :problem:

The fact that I have 'other watches in the watch box' is obviously going to need a lot of sensitive discussion!

It’ll never write back. But at least it will always give her the time of day. *

*Sorry, I’ll get my coat. :)
Trying not to buy any more watches...

Thanks KCM :D

It's a well known therapeutic tool to write letters to people and things, even if you choose never to send them.
I actually found this silly exercise quite helpful! The C11 stays, and I've redefined the shape of my collection. C11 just needed to resume its rightful place in the lineup.

I was also smitten on seeing a C11 for the first time; searched for and finally bought one.

Alas, being fickle the relationship didn’t last and it went the way of so many other watches :-k

What a wonderful post! That might be the essence of everyone’s relationship with watches, I suppose. the C11, in all it’s variants, is a watch I’ve always loved but don’t think I could ever own. It’s a size and a style I just couldn’t pull off.
