Thanks Guy, good luck with the virtual viewing when it happens. It would be good to know what you think. I still think (hope) that the official pictures don’t do it justice.....

It is probably selling well. I've noticed other watches are now on pre-order also.

My guess/ assumption was that it was just supply problems based on lack of forum comment on orders and no reviews/ real world photos on the internet. If you are correct, I’d hope to see some photos soon

My take on the situation? Two possibilities;-

1. The batch due at the end of November has been delayed or

2. CW has pre-orders that will be fulfilled by the end of November batch, and is moving on to the next batch.

Perhaps we'll find out which one it is next week.

I'd say with a fair degree of certainty that answer #2 is the correct one, as the pictures below have been posted this evening on the CWE Facebook Group by a Group Member in the USA of his new arrival.

Discussing the watch with me he has told me;-

"If your looking to get one , negatives - it is it is hard to see, especially at certain angles, and the lume is non existent"

"Other then that it’s really nice, especially in the light"

Having seen a regular C60 Abyss up close last year, neither comment surprises me.

These are great photos. Which serve to rather put me off the watch! So I’m pleased to have seen them. :D

I think the crystal dial is too transparent for what I was hoping for.

Thanks for posting Guy. I tend to agree with Clach. The comments on legibility confirm my doubts over the watch. I do think CW has missed a trick with this. I like the spec but there needs to be more contrast so it’s easier to tell the time!

Sorry to disagree Alex but I'm not convinced by 1. the quality of the photos and 2. your perception of the transparency of the dial.

If you reflect on the photos we have seen here on the forum, to date, of the regular Abyss model the exposure setting has varied enormously making the watch look anything from almost regular steel to black pvd.

Thinking also of photos of the C60 Sapphire Blue, depending on the lighting and angle, the dial looks anything from almost solid to totally transparent. I think the same will hold true for the Abyss SH21.

Just my two pence worth and I'm willing to be proved wrong.

Hopefully though, the existence of the Abyss SH21 at CW Towers will mean my Virtual Showroom appointment to see one will happen sooner, rather than later.

The photos certainly reinforce my expectation, but key to me is the owner’s comment on it being hard to read. I think that nails it for me

My opinion hasn't changed and it's not for me.

if it was a £500 watch and you liked the design but had slight concerns over legibility you would probably just order and take a punt, but at this price point it's a different proposition.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

No need to apologise for having a different opinion.

I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts about the watch after your virtual view. I doubt it’ll be for me, but hopefully it’ll be enjoyed by everyone who buys one.

Given that I’m likely to pass on this, I’m off to take another look at the C65 Sandstorm. A watch that no one on here appears to like. :D

Like Guy said, I’d wait until some better photos surface, or to hold it in hand to make an assumption about the transparency of the dial. In real life, the C60 Sapphire dial is only really transparent in direct bright light, maybe 5-10% of the time. The rest of the time you don’t really notice the transparency and it just appears a deep solid blue.

I suspect the lighting in these pictures doesn’t show the true nature of the dial. I’m excited to hear a firsthand account from someone who has held it.

A few sapphire pics to illustrate my point:

Great photos, which illustrate the point well. Undoubtedly though the white hands and markers help the contrast here. Will wait on Guy's feedback and further pics/ reviews. The CWE feedback still points to it being hard to read, but will be interested to see further real world views

Declan @ CW made contact with me this morning.

He has got a C60 Abyss SH21 to use for the showroom, and I've got an appointment booked for this Thursday morning @ 11:00am.

Meanwhile, his Virtual Showroom appointments are getting booked up fast, and he's open open until 7pm on Tuesday / Wednesday / Friday and until 8pm Thursday up until Christmas.

Guy
