What would I like CW to Design next?

Post by DaveTucker »

I like lots of different things for different reasons, but one thing I really love is something that's designed to be bomb proof, so I'd like CW to design a watch that could handle anything you could throw at it. It would have to be manual wind, automatic or solar powered (not battery). An undecorated titanium or similar case, definitely no plating/coating or other finish that could wear off. Shock proof. Sapphire Chrystal of course, but maybe with a replaceable guard to fend off any damage. A simple face, with clear numbers that can be easily and quickly read. Finally tritium markers on the hands and indices so you can read the time in complete darkness. Now that's a watch I'd like to buy! Oh, and a rot proof, scratch proof, buckeled strap. All that for under £500 please 🙂

Sounds like you want a posh G-Shock, Dave!

I’ll go for something subtle. And beautiful. I’m thinking the same shape and dimensions as my Tank Solo XL, with a gold case, black dial, no date, gold sword hands and applied bâton indices, centre seconds, on a black alligator strap. Hand wound movement with Côtes de Genève, perlage and spiral sunburst wheels, visible through a sapphire case back.

This! in 38mm, the modern C65, a bit of an old idea as the original C65 was simply the C65 without a rotating bezel, but with virtually zero development cost it would be a winner.

I think that would sell like hotcakes! And maybe offer different dial colors.

I'd like to see another Sapphire watch but with more of the works visible.

For moi, a chrono that mimics the fine a** looks of the Oris 65 chrono, but at a much more affordable price point..

I wonder if something like this is coming? Think of the signs we’ve seen...
1. It’s announced that 2020 is the year of the chronograph
2. a chronograph C65 case has clearly been developed, as seen in the C65 AM GT

So maybe you’ll get your wish!

I actually hope I’m NOT! A vintage inspired chronograph in the spirit of the C65 line might make me regret getting the C65 AM GT!

Well, probably not. I couldn’t afford a chronograph with an automatic movement.

The latest Worn & Wound podcast is devoted to an interview with Mike France.

Whilst most of it is pushing the C65 SC he also alluded to some future releases. The most firm from his comments is a C65 Chronograph launching in November.

Previous renders in Loupe have suggested that It’ll be a two register model with date window at six (and by inference the logo at twelve).
