One question I do have is whether the bracelet from my Dartmouth would fit it, as getting one on a leather strap and with the voucher would bring the price down enough for me to consider it.
No I don’t think so. The C65 case has been modified for the Super Compressor, to give it a cushion-esque vibe. The end links on it’s bracelet are straight edged where they butt up against the watch, whereas they’re curved on the Dartmouth.

There is a separate C65 Super Compressor bracelet listed on their website shop, so I would agree it wouldn’t likely fit the “standard” C65 bracelet.

I’m quite warming to this watch style, as it does look rather unique in the range and has really casual look about it.

Now, if they could add GMT functionality, with an appropriate bi-directional 24 hours internal bezel, that would make an interesting watch too. It wouldn’t be a true diver then, but I would guess very few of us are actually diving with these anyway.

CW list separate bracelets for C65 Trident Mk2 (Dartmouth, Diver), C65 Chrono Mk2 (AM GT LE) and C65 Super Compressor.

I'll therefore advocate, the answer is, no.

Placed an order at 4 pm and the watch was stated as being in stock. Just checked my order status and it’s showing as on pre-order!!!!
Funnily enough, 3 hrs later it’s still showing as in stock on the website?

What’s that all about?

I think major kudos to CW for bringing out this watch, the first proper compressor for 50 years. Like the rest of the C65 range, the stylish svelte case is a winner, and looks great with the display back and the decorated compression ring and bezel crown. The WR arguments are fairly superfluous are they not to 99.99% of owners. Clearly it would be fine for swimming/snorkelling and I would imagine most serious divers rely on additional technology in determining remaining air supply.

The cushion case certainly gives is a proper vintage vibe, the applied indices and the detail on the dial look great too. I do find a date quite useful however saying that the Dartmouth is one of my favourites watches of all I've owned and it doesn't have one so it can't bother me that much.

I think the dial colours will be better viewed in some real life photos.

Overall I'm sure it's a winner.

Vostok Amphibias - also compression cases, but not super compressors - are rated at 200m. They were issued to Soviet navy divers, so probably adequate for recreational diving!

I am tempted by the Super Compressor....
Vostok is exactly where my mind went with compressor design.

Interesting mini-factoid: I did a quick EBay search for super compressor watches and I'm slightly surprised that with a few exceptions the average price for a "vintage" supercomp' came in around £1400. This includes the Longines Legend which is a much dressier design and I thought completely understated on the wrist. I need to remember that.

I have to say it's the first of the C65 range to really pique my interest, having at various times taken a liking to a Longines Heritage Legend Diver or Alpina Seastrong Heritage. The first of those on the mesh strap is still on my wanted list, and while I'm not sure the C65 would replace it, I really quite like the slightly relaxed, un-dressy aesthetic of the blue version. It seems to be another example of a new CW with a lot going on but which hangs together quite well.
I was really unimpressed with the Longines Legend. I am a fan of Longines generally but found the legend to look and feel cheap and insubstantial. The crowns were wobbly and overly small and the whole thing felt cheaply made. Flipped it very quickly!!

Doesn't do anything for me unfortunately and I've dozens of compressor Amphibias which are more interesting for almost 1/20 the cost!

My thoughts are 150m is more than enough for recreational diving! :)

Why are people obsessed by pointlessly excessive WR on a watch? :problem:

I think OWC deserves some kudos as well. They've been selling dive watches with super compressor cases for almost a decade now.

Well, that’s one I am certainly ignorant of. Any chance you could provide a link, please? Thanks.

The half minute which we daily devote to the winding-up of our watches is an exertion of labour almost insensible; yet, by the aid of a few wheels, its effect is spread over the whole twenty-four hours.
