In my view you have three options:
1) Do Nothing - live with it.
20 buy a secondhand unit and use the crystal. You would need a press to fit the crystal if doing it yourself.
3) Find a replacement (non OEM) which may take a while but is likely to be available. Again you would need a press to fit if doing it yourself.

I’m pleased the inmates are coming up with suggestions for the OP but he should not have to be doing this, we are not talking about a customer going back to a store where he purchased a watch a few years back, we are talking about going back the the manufacturer to obtain a replacement part, CW should be trying to source a replacement not the OP :censored: not just saying sorry mate don’t do them any more  what has happened to customer service :? Anyone want to buy a C65 diver cus now they are not on the web site I assume that they are not making them any more and if I need a replacement crystal for it in the future it’s no good going back to the manufacturer cus they don’t do spares

Its a problem with a small brand that has grown and evolved rapidly, our expectations today maybe different to the fairly recent past.
Its not that long ago that sales numbers per design/model were a fraction of those now and each possibly took longer to sell out (sometimes years). In the younger days each item of stock on the shelf reflected a cost and cash flow would have been a primary driver. Holding onto a substantial quantity of items per model (esp at the modest price point) may not have been feasible.
CWL is a different business today with different volumes and market reputation to uphold so I would hope maintenance stocks are part of the model for more recent pieces.
It is however very frustrating, I have 2 items that I required that are now obsolete/out of stock and CW was unable to offer any suggestions at all (one cosmetic and not essential, ie my desire to have a perfect bezel for a C70 MC, the other was a case item).
There are many many brands (particularly smaller ones) that do not carry a significant quantity or full range of maintenance parts for discontinued models.

With regards to the OP request, I recall from another forum that it is possible to acquire custom crystals from specialists though this may of course be prohibitively expensive. I cant recall the thread off the top of my head. I think I agree with, 'wear the battle scar with pride, its part of the watches history', that said its not my watch and if it was and I could replace the glass I would.

Thanks all for the responses - sorry, I didn't see them earlier. Some more impassioned feelings than my own! I really don't like throwing things away so the fact that spare parts aren't available is a bit annoying, but it's also fine too. It was a bit of a disappointing response from CW but ultimately it was very much a case of 'while you're taking it apart...' . Maybe I'll sort it in the future, maybe not.

On the other hand, I hope that should the movement ever need to be replaced, with it being a non-specific CW movement then that'll be easy to still sort out in the future!

I was chatting to another watch enthusiast at work who countered my point about NOS parts for a vintage Omega by pointing out that Omega is in a different price bracket so it's understandable they'd keep spares for 40+ years - but ask my Dad and the Speedy for him was a tool watch that was there to do a job and wasn't really anything special! (hence it being covered in paint when I sent it off for service...)

Hey ho... I have scars and so too do my watches. That's what makes them mine & unique, right?

That’s quite a refreshing lack of entitlement. Having interacted with you, I’m not too surprised.

Sounds like it’s in your blood – your father clearly showed a sense of perspective there too!
