C7 - struggling to get the back on after battery change

Post by Mikeyw »

Hi,

I've just replaced the battery on my C7 but now struggling to get the rear case back on. It wont slide under the strap even with some force. Does the strap need to come off to get it back on?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Yes, remove the strap, it will be easier. With the back off please be careful that removing the strap allows nothing - and I'm thinking about dust, dirt and "wrist cheese" to get into the movement.

"Force" is not required but the case back has a fairly fine thread and it'll probably pay you to gently start by going the wrong way; this is likely to settle the case back squarely and evenly on the threads whereas it is otherwise possible to make a false start with it cross-threaded which might be what you are experiencng now?

You're looking for the spring bar ends in fairly small gaps on the back of the strap between the lugs.

It isn't a specialist job but if you aren't sure what you're looking for you might want to think of it as being beyond your current skill level.

Let me create a photo for you....although it isn't the same watch.

Thanks for the pic and advice, on mine theres a lot more leather and the pin barely visible. I've tried moving it with a fine screwdriver but no joy at all

You need a strap changing tool with a 'fine' fork.

Bergen 6767F is my recommendation. Get the standard fork too.

Yes, I've used one of these to remove the pins on this watch:

It's a bit tight on the standard strap as you've seen so take your time if it's first time around.
