I’m confused
I’m confused
Is it blue sapphire or clear sapphire with a piece of blue plastic over as stated in loupe. Surely this is misleading

Re: I’m confused
I thought I remember reading that it is clear sapphire with at blue plastic disc. Maybe someone else could chime in and confirm

From Loupe 17 - page 19 ".....this dial is in two pieces: the clear sapphire itself, the coloured plastic wafer just beneath it, which adds the glorious colour"

Re: I’m confused
I'm afraid to say that is described in a totally misleading way on site.
It is not a blue sapphire as we all know and the website should describe it as a clear sapphire with a plastic wafer.
Very poor form by CW.

Re: I’m confused
The plastic disc is nothing new - I suggested when it was launched that someone should stick the watch in an oven on low heat to see if it shrivels up.
Not surprised by the marketing description or direction, I won't mention 60/48...

Re: I’m confused
You have your answer, right there from Kip. Don't be confused, the website description is completely wrong and classes as misrepresentation of goods and very bad form indeed.
Just another thing that stops me from trusting this brand, in fact why should anybody trust a brand that has irrefutably incorrect (and misleading) facts on their very own website? Hmmmm.

Loupe written by someone who knows the product. Web site entry written by someone who doesn't.

Their entire website is a bit of a disaster. It's extremely wonky on mobile browsers.jtc wrote:Loupe written by someone who knows the product. Web site entry written by someone who doesn't.

Afaik no one actually colors Sapphire crystal for any watch component.golfjunky wrote:Is it blue sapphire or clear sapphire with a piece of blue plastic over as stated in loupe. Surely this is misleading
At best the antireflective coating has a color.
This is pure market-speak.
CW also got a brand new head of marketing as per Loupe..... I have a feeling this is her doing.

Plenty of brands do this all the time. Never trust any brand 100%.triffidman wrote:You have your answer, right there from Kip. Don't be confused, the website description is completely wrong and classes as misrepresentation of goods and very bad form indeed.

A couple of Rolex Milgauss models have a green crystal IIRC?Commisar wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 5:13 pmAfaik no one actually colors Sapphire crystal for any watch component.golfjunky wrote:Is it blue sapphire or clear sapphire with a piece of blue plastic over as stated in loupe. Re: I’m confused
Really!
Taken from the Rolex website.
The green sapphire crystal is a unique watch crystal developed by Rolex, it is scratchproof, fade-proof and available exclusively on the Milgauss. Its light green shade, tinted throughout the entire crystal, turns nearly luminescent at the bevelled edges. The result of a secret process that required years of development to master and takes weeks to produce.

Tinted green.
I guess the question here is what happens when the plastic on the CW fades?
