Quartz has its place, but that place is utility. Art and therefore emotive, it is not.

No. A fine piece of electronic engineering requires no less creativity and mastery of craft than a mechanical movement.
A Sellita SW200 is just as much a mass market commodity as a Seiko quartz movement.
