Unique Daily Special - Forum / CWE Exclusive

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

Back at the beginning of November last year the Admin Team made one of their periodic visits to CW Towers.

During the visit we were given a tour of CW Towers and, in one of the cases in the 'Stock Room', I noticed half a dozen or so unique watches. Looking at them more closely they were clearly Military Special pieces, not for the open market. Asking if they might be available, I was politely advised, no.

When we, here on the Forum, got information a few weeks ago about the Daily Specials being offered in advance of the July Sale, I enquired with CW whether these Military Specials might be coming available. This time I was told yes, they are scheduled for the July Sale (not as Daily Specials), are currently in for QC checks and would I like to be told when they are available. Yes please, I responded.

I was pleasantly surprised therefore to be contacted at the end of last week to be told that one is available for me. Discussion ensued, a payment was made and my watch arrived at lunchtime today.

Those familiar with the CW range will recognise it as a C11 Makaira, actually the steel Pro 500 model, but in a black PVD which I've not seen before and certainly was never offered by CW in their regular range.

Its full SKU is C11-NAVY-FDU1-KKK having originally been commissioned by the Royal Navy's Fleet Diving Unit 1 as identifiable by the logo at '12'. The original caseback was black and also had the FDU1 logo on it along with the personal details of the Diver. However, this has been civilianised on my watch with a standard steel Makaira caseback.

Finally, as mentioned at the start of this post, there are half a dozen of these watches available and, if you are interested in one, please PM me and I will put you in touch with the right person at CW (not the CS team).

Not my style but that's a smart looking stealth watch and the strap suits it well.

What a stunning watch Guy, congratulations.

I’d have been rushing to PM you if they’d had a standard, non-military, dial. As it is I’ll just enjoy looking at pictures of yours. :)

Congratulations Guy, that's a fine looking variant of what has always been one of my favourite CW models.

I've owned a number but ultimately the L2L is just a bit too much for me to pull off. Suits you perfectly though!

Now that IS nice, well done for getting it - that's a very special watch.

The C11 on PVD/DLC is a menacing (but beautiful looking) combination.

That is a great looking watch Guy! Makes you wonder why they never released a PVD version in the standard lineup.

Didn't have any knocked together with the W11 case did they?
