Can’t decide.
Can’t decide.
Hi
Basically I cannot decide between buying a Christopher ward watch (green faced Grand Tourer) or a Farer (white faced Pendine) watch?
Any advice would be grateful.
Thanks

It might be helpful if you give us some idea of why you can’t decide or what you would like advice on, otherwise all you will get are a load of personal preferences and the only one of those that really matters is yours!

So, this...
Or this...
In the past I’ve given my opinion that Farer always use one more colour than necessary in their designs and this one is no exception.
However, the looks of a watch are purely down to personal taste, so I’m not sure anyone can advise.
If you look at spec, price, warranty - maybe that will help you to decide.

Re: Can’t decide.
I did buy the Pendine's twin brother, the Ainsdale, pictured below (although mine was on a navy blue strap).
For some reason I didn't gel with the watch, and sold it a month or two later. As Downer says, I do like the colourful dials of most Farer watches, but perhaps the reality of them is that they can be quite busy when on the wrist.
Price wise, the Grand Tourer is £395, so a bit cheaper than the Pendine £527. Size and specs are similar.
Despite my Farer experience, I probably still prefer the Pendine vs the Grand Tourer. Only you can decide however both companies offer free returns if you change your mind so you could potentially buy both then return one?

Re: Can’t decide.
I have the CW in blue and it’s a very ‘busy’ watch.
If they were the same price I’d be tempted by the Farer but I’ve not seen or held one to be able to compare build quality and feel.

I tried on the CW at the Bristol GTG. It's a lovely watch. Very light, comfortable and legible. I've only seen the Farer in pictures so it would be unfair to try and compare.

What timing scale are you thinking of?robocaspar wrote:What's the point of a chronograph without some kind of timing scale?
Chronograph is a Stopwatch; you start it, stop it and read the elapsed time. Job done.

Re: Can’t decide.
I have been looking at both these watches recently and ended up buying the C3 Morgan Chronograph.
I like Farer watches but decided I would probably find the colours a bit too much if I owned one. I also am not keen on the position of the date on the Pendine and I think, as a result of having the date at 6 o'clock, the dial is more balanced on the CW.
But this is inevitably a very personal preference. I am delighted with my choice but they are both lovely watches.

Re: Can’t decide.
Farer is guilty of chopping off the numbers on the dial, so CW would be the better choice between the two. I think the Farer watches would look much better with the half-numbers erased completely.
Re: Can’t decide.
I don’t understand why you would cut the numbers off like that? Apart from that I think the colour choices are better on the Farer, the silver / white on the c3 is nice but there is something off about the green, looks more mint than BRG in the pictures anyway.

Louise's next CW at some stage, she loved it at the London GTG.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:I tried on the CW at the Bristol GTG. It's a lovely watch. Very light, comfortable and legible. I've only seen the Farer in pictures so it would be unfair to try and compare.
